How are people advertising to aerate for 40 bucks? Doesn't that seem low? Thanks.

I don't aerate. Out here people charge as low as 25 bucks! (1/4 acre) It's insane if you ask me.

They should advertise "Going through the motions, $40"

Lol. I havn't? I guess you've seen everything. I just think it's pretty bush league to charge that price, when you know they aren't doing a good job.

Everyone's a fan of capitalism until it gets into their wallets. If a guy is willing to work that cheap. Let him. The customer has the ultimate say. Besides, the $25 guy won't be around long.

It seems that the $25 guys are just punks trying to make a quick buck. Frustrating, I dont aerate because the market is over saturated with this kids.

Funny I just found out a large lawn maintenance company around here is charging $1200/acre for aeration and overseeding!!!

Scotts is charging $40 for aeration and seeding (not slit seeding) around here. They must make up the difference through out the rest of the year on fert and squirt. It sure does make it hard to sell when they are doing that.

I see a lot of ridiculously poor aeration jobs, including some by the big squirt/fert companies. Bone dry soil, no attempt to aerate anywhere near corners or obstacles, and gaps in the pattern so big I notice them when mowing.

It's easy for them to hide not making overlapping passes, instead leaving huge gaps between passes, so it looks aerated at a glance but they probably have about 30% of the hole density of even a minimally proper job.

There are tons of ways to cut corners aerating, so it's no wonder they'll do it for $40. Or, even if they do a good job, $40/yd still beats what they can earn at a part time job.

Good for you. I have to believe that if you stay firm with your prices and do a good job, people will be loyal sometimes.
