What equipment do you have available?

What are the operating costs of this equipment per hour?

What is your overhead?

What profit margin do you want to make?

What do you want to pay yourself hourly?

What do you pay your employees?

What obstructions are on the property?

Do you have to bag and haul off clippings?

What kind of grass?

What is the shape and dimensions of the property?

Two things...

You are in charge of a company consisting of at least 50, but preferably 100 or more employees.

And you already own the equipment for this job, might be short 1 piece or a
machine is waiting on a part that's on order, but other than that...
No, rentals don't count.

Right?

What is the shape and dimensions of the property?

Not sure if I'm getting through here, so just to make sure we're on the same track...

The below picture is of a Colorado Ski resort that goes by the name of Wolf Creek.
I've skied the side of this mountain before, that's what this sprawl occupies, the entire SIDE of a mountain.
You can not, while standing anywhere on one side of this resort, see the other side, it's that far.
Well all right, maybe on a really clear day but I'm telling you it goes as far as the eye can see.
Those little green things are actually HUGE pine trees.

That?
Occupies a mere 1,600 acres.

So how do you go about pricing this area you ask, you don't unless you have 3 Ganged wam's. or several wheat harvesters. and even then you cant use a residential method of pricing the job because of the dedicated equipment and fuel that needs to stay staged at the job until it is done.

my price is 285,000 per cut or 855,000 for the season, that is almost a mill for the season. 1/2 of first cut price is paid in advance, 2nd halve of first cut price is paid at mid point of first cut. and i have permission to pitch pup tent on property where I stop for the day or work in shifts cutting non stop 24 hrs a day with rotating crews and on board flood lighting. the bummer is you will never get the job at this cost. So my guess is that you have the lot size figures incorrect.

9 zero turns, 20acres a day, 12 days a fortnight. (would need a 10th ztr as back up!)
Any trimming with that? haaaa

for me it would have to be a multi year contract for the money you will have to lay out, a couple of these would do it. it would be a nice contract if you get it or it will eat you alive. http://schulte.ca/broch_FX520%20Brochure.pdf

if you dont have a million dollar transformer like shredding machine you will never compete with people that do as they can charge 30 and acre and still make money, i would charge 100 an acre myself cuz i wouldnt want the account. haha if they cant sign a contract and pay half up front tell them to f@#$ off. if they can then give em a good bid based on operating cost and profit for yourself and buy a mini transformer like shredder that might run 200k. well jb1 has a good idea as well you can do it with a cheaper investment but i dont think they are serious and will probalbly **** when they get your pricing

I think thread is a hoax. My BS warning light is going off.

If it's not, I'd say you could do it with one large tractor and biggest-bat wing you could find.

The thing is, you would just have to keep the machine running constantly. After 2 weeks of mowing said acreage, then you would turn around and start all over again.

If that's something to entertain, figure how much you would pay a person to run a machine, and any overhead including fuel, insurances, etc...

At that point I think you could figure out how much to charge per hour, and still cover repairs for said equipment.

Another question, why can't it be bailed for hay or straw. That way the owner can actually make money off of the property instead of paying to maintain it.

My family is from Bogalusa and I don't know anywhere that has 2200 acres of grass. 99% of the land down there is owned by papermills and they have no use for grass, that's why they are full of pines!!!
