I am just curious what everyone is using contain their air hose from blowout to blowout. It's the first year I've used a tow behind and dragging 70+ feet of 3/4 hose in and out of the bed of my truck every half hour seems dumb. If you guys have any pics of the reel or whatever you're using that would be super. Also if you have any help as to where I could purchase something, that would be great as well.

I personally drag it. One other tech same thing. Other tech has a reel.
Top photo is set up with reel.
Second is what I'm using.
Gotta burn off the fat somehow. Lost 6 pounds this week already.

Here's our reel! It came off a propane truck. It has about 150 ft. on the reel. I carry another 50 foot section for the odd hookup. It has worked great for about 3 years!

Hannay and Reelcraft are two manufacturers. I've even used a cheesy garden cart hose reel in the past. But for reel laziness, you csn't beat an old portable hose reel when you run a dinky truckmount compressor, the kind that uses a lie-flat nylon-mesh hose. Fifty feet weighs about 2 pounds.

I use a Cox air powered reel and would never be without it. I have 200' of hose on it which will take care of 99% of our blowout work.

I cranked up the hose for a few years and I finally had had enough and bought the airmotor take up. Am tickled every time I use it.

John.

Thanks for the quick replies and pics! Those reels both look nice a clean. It looks like they're both electric....are they? I'd prefer a manual one just as long as it keeps it neat. I'll check out those manufacturers.

Powered or unpowered, they are not cheap. (but try to strap a garden cart to the tongue of a tow-behind!)

I am curious about the electric winders.... if by chance the hose gets snagged, will the reel "sense" the snag and stop pulling?

no your hand senses it and you take your finger off the button

Doubtful. I don't get to use it :(
usually he brings most the hose close to the reel anyway. Then winds it up. He should be able to see most of it. And I have it with a push button so it won't reel in if his thumb is not on it. So he wouldn't be away from it and have it catch something and cause a problem. He should see of feel a snag or resistance.

Our reel is electric and came off a propane truck. Good friend has a company that deals in propane trucks and parts for them. This reel was off a used truck. Lots of power, but have never had an accident with it catching on something.:cool2:

I guess it wouldn't be funny if you pulled your reel in and had a PVB on the end of it huh? Instead of a lunker you would have a clunker....hyuk hyuk

Nice! What's with the ladder and 10' sticks of class 200?

Thanks,

A landscaper that was going to initially do an irrigation job himself contracted us to do the work. HE purchased the 10' sections of Class 200 & gave them to me.... I just kept it on the van & used the sticks for service.
The ladder is for hanging and servicing rain sensors & weather stations.

That's fine, all that crap is only worth a advertisement that you do sprinkler work. PVC is not UV resistant, especially class. :hammerhead::)

I have a Hannay manual reel model #1826. It holds 150' of 3/4" hose. I've had it since 1996 with the same hose and it still works like new. I think I paid around 300.00 for it without hose.

this is mine. Greensweep be careful with that setup. The guy I used to work for mounted his reel on top and after a few years of bouncing, the extra weight of the reel and hose broke the enclosure of the compressor.

Drove back from TX yesterday. Little nerve wracking but I'm a stud safety driver so no problemo.
