View Full Version : DV 100 freeze damage.

I had two blowouts today where we had to run the water to thaw out the above ground manifolds. Each one had a DV 100 diaphragm that was stuck to the back half of the valve and would not open. Peeled out the diaphragm and the back part that seals was deformed. But it was really stuck on the back half. Replaced the diaphragm and blew out. Extra charge for diaphragm and $20 to put it in.

A real beetch here now as all that have above ground manifolds (90%) that were not covered are frozen and warm temps are several days away. I sometimes have to push for folks to turn the water back on and wait for the thaw. I have them call me as soon as systems run and I will blow them out. I make sure they cover exposed piping until I get there.

Time for a beverage warm up.

Are these antisyphon valves?

DV 100 Diagphragms have always been sensitive to freezing. Don't have that problem with TORO. A good reason to have valves below ground

I rarely see probs with the DVs. And that is the local valve of choice.

Bullet proof in my eyes. My valve of choice for installs and add ons.

Regular valves. And the valve of choice here as well. I had never seen this kind of damage on any valve before.
