So I went and checked out the 05 RC100 I mentioned in a previous thread, and it looks good! I ran it as well, everything seemed tight, great ride, never used a tracked machine b4 so going from wheels to an undercarriage machine is a big difference.

Features it has:
-2 speed, not sure if it was standard or not, but damn that is fast! a huge difference from going 5mph in a single speed ssl to this beast.

-hydraulic quick-tach coupler

-cab w/ heat and ac in working condition as well as working wiper

-prewired for beacon up top, which will come in hand for snow removal this year

-pilot controls, although all asv's might have this, not really familiar with them.

-5 aux hydro ports- 2 low flow ports, 2 high flow w/third aux port if thats what its called, and the electrical hookup on the boom so you dont have to run a wire to the effin battery to power angle a harley rake!

-comes with a 72" bucket in good shape, bolt on cutting edge

-tracks will need replaced by the end of next year maybe, depends on our usage.

-1900 hours

-no dents anywhere, just normal paint scratches

he said to call him up tomorrow to let him know, ill be picking it up thursday! pics coming soon.

Thanks Junior, any advice on brush mowers? A friend of mine from class works for a landscaping company and they get offered brush mowing/clearing jobs all the time that they dont do, I'm going to give him my cards and tell him to put me in contact with him for next year, just trying to utilize this machine to its fullest.

depends on what you'll be cutting, ARP uses a bush hog and a 60in Fecon, its one of those things you'll have to see what needs cut before making a decision on what to buy because each one has its own niche..

lol, think i may be jumping the gun?? a big reason we decided to go with this machine is b/c i had planned on expanding our services into land clearing etc... but its not like im going to be going out next week and buying a FAE mulching head and rotary mower.

we have the work for the machine now, but now that we bought it, it expands our capabilities and allows us to take on more work, which is what im trying to say.

and just wanted to thank you JPG for the advice and insight you provided in my other post on the machine.

yep, we lost out on a REAL good deal a few years ago:

NH ls180 w/ bucket, 1100hrs iirc
ott steel tracks
excavator attachment for the front
and maybe forks

all for 8 grand, what a steal

i just cruised machinerytrader.com looking at the 100's and some of the prices are crazy!!!!! even for the forestry package machines, I saw one in FL for like 87K

I looked at a used 05 100 last year before I bought my new PT80. That 100. the guy wanted something like 18K for it, and it had over 2000Hrs. It was pretty beat up as well, 18K was the cheapest I hade ever seen one. But when I got 0 payments for 3 months and 0% intrest for 3 years from ASV, I just couldn't pass that up. Brand new machine of my dreams!!!! lol

I think i am going to be getting a brand new PT60 (Left over yellow and black unit) here in the next month or so. My RC50 is getting worse everyday. I brought in a real big snow account that will gross me over 50K per season. I think an account like that will justify a new PT

dont you guys just wear the tracks down to nothing plowing with them? how many seasons do you get out of a set? im a nut with my 332 on pavement, i can count on one hand the number of times my machine has made a turn on pavement.

cant decide if i want to do this to the old girl???

You have to remember that in a snow fall you are never on straight pavement. There is always a thin layer of snow between you and the ground. This layer acts as lube for your tracks to turn with out grinding. I have pushed with my 50 for 4 seasons on the original tracks, there is 1200 hours on them and they are at about 40 to 50% right now. My 80 has about 500 Hrs, one full plowing season, lots of dirt and mowing, tracks are at 80%

I don't freak out about how my tracks are wearing, Sure seeing a cut, goudge, or a slice on one bugs me. But going into buying a machine I know that the tracks are going to wear down as the Hours go up. I don't plan on keeping machines long enough to replace the tracks either. The 50 is going bye bye this spring (After it plows all winter) its being replaced with a new PT60. It will get 1200 Hrs on it then it will go bye bye. same with the 80.

the one im getting has about 1900 hrs on its original tracks and has been plowing. ctl undercarriages by design wear out tracks faster on hard surfaces as compared to mtl undercarriages.

i wouldn't touch a machine with 1900 hours. i speak from experience.

i think im going to buy one more track, then i will have two complete sets. one will be snow one will be dirt.

i have all ways had the idea to make a "rubber band" that you drive into and then pull it up and buckle it just like steel over the tire tracks. it would protect your "good" tracks while you are plowing and then at the end of the season you just snap it off. it would be cheap because it wouldnt have all the steel in it to grab the sprocket. the only concern is the real track spinning inside the "rubber band" but i dont think that would happen.

You better make that rubber band thick, cause the way that CTL of your will vibrate on a hard parking lot is going to rattle your teeth out! lol

Have you looked at the Polor treads? They look kinda neat, look like they would be a great all aroung CTL track.

i figure the rubber band over top of my original track will help to cushion the vibration effect.

i dont want to spend the $$ on polar treads, i broke a steel cord in one of my tracks and then bought 2 new ones so i have one good one left. i buy 1 more and then i have two sets.
