Installing C9's

Forgive me if I have my lingo wrong.

On a house that is for example a tri level that has a straight run, then a gabled front I believe, do you guys still install on the shingle on the gable, or do you go upside down on the soffit?

I try to always use an all in one clip and go under the shingle on all, whether gutter or gable. I always do them standing up. This way in the future, whether you do it tighter or looser, you never have clips that are on the wrong way. Also, always put a few extra on each end and cap them. This way you can allow for the tighter looser thing.
