I should state that the job is already done i'm interested in know how bad i got beat up on this deal? all you have to figure on is showing up and spreading it . As the custome to the guy i subed for purchased there own material and kept adding stuff on plus we had to clean weeds off a 100x100 foot area

Probably about the same as the guy doing it with a wheel barrow and shovel would charge,
just because someone's got a nice expensive machine doesn't make it cost more,
for the same reason that since it doesn't take as long it also doesn't cost less,
hence it costs about the same regardless of the tools used.

That having been said, I don't touch somebody else's dirt / mulch / don't care what they bought.
For the exact reason(s) you just mentioned, I would have quoted 70 cubic yards +10% for the
famous little 'error' margin at the tune of $25 a cubic yard and they would have said Oh Noooo
long before I even got to the total.

Why, because when a customer comes around like that, they usually want something for nothing.
I would have quoted 1925 but again I don't get them kind of requests much anymore.

Technicalities aside, I'd say it's worth about $1,400 to spread 70 cubic yards of dirt,
$20 a pop, ASSUMING it really was (or is) 70 cubic yards.

When you contract my operation what you get is 1 experienced, insured and bondable operator holding a Massachusetts Hydraulics License. 1 skid steer and 1 dump truck, at the rate of 175.00 per hr. with a 4 hr.min. If you are unknown to me and are a blind call the machine arrives and is not removed from trailer until a certified bank check is in the operators hands for 65% of total time est. 70 yards can be completed within the day as per site condition and can be graded to your spec. I live on the vineyard but our work radius, is lower cape to south shore but we have gone as far as Avon. So did the guy hose you?

Don't even know why i did the job i had to go in and scrape down the weeds for a little while one day then back a second to spread the material . If i did an hourly rate i didn't lose but you can't keep doing jobs like that not cost effective.I guess the reasone i did it was it was like a few miles away from me and a nice flat level yard .plus it was one of those deals that if you went to high or get the price you should be getting then the owner probably would of not did it or go with the guy that was going to do more than what we where getting called to do and they would of went with him .
