Me and Dad are thinking of putting one together for one at the local fairgrounds in the spring, just curious as to how yall did..

We have a annual thing here called home days, every city around here usually does. its like a mini carnival with rides, food, booths, dog shows etc....

Ive been wanting to do this for a while but we have been so busy every time. I wanted to get a spot with space so we could get our enclosed trailer next to our area with some clean and shiny equip!!!!

some ideas i thought about doing:

sign up for a raffle to win a free lawn care servce, you have to give the tickets free or else there are certain laws and permits etc... i think.

do kind of like a live demonstration or have a piece of plywood with the edges enclosed and show the different layers composing a paver walkway/patio

make sure you have plenty of picture and information about your company available.

getting to meet these people face to face is a huge step to getting more business as they become familiar with you without the pressures of having to give them an estimate.

its also a huge networking opportunity.

I wasnt going to do give aways, but I was thinking having one outside so we could have a piece of equipment there that the kids would want to look at and potentially drag the parents over.

Then have a pamphlet of the things we do and pictures..

And also have a picture of a tree with "Before" over it then next to that have a box with chips in it saying "after" to kind of give them an idea of whats going to be left.

I dont know, I am just thinking of things.

This would be for a hunting show called the Sportsmans Classic so I could market to the hunters with property and hunt clubs like I wanted to.

We had a booth at the outdoor and hunter's expo about 6 years ago. Back then, Bobct had just come out with the s220. We rented a space, put a shiny new Bobcat with grapple in there, made a poster with pictures, put out business cards, made up flyers and pamphlets and had giveaways that Bobcat of San Antonio donated to the cause. It went over well and I picked up about $15k worth of work from it. I haven't done it since because I am notoriously busy in October when they hold it but it was worth every penny. I don't think we spent over $300 on everything including my time and we had fun with the whole family taking turns talking to folks. I had one old lady come up and chew us out..she had confused us with another company and wanted to make her displeasure known. Still don't know what the hell she was talking about but it was funny and she was obviously ripped off by someone with a Bobcat..guess we all look alike! :)

We do a big one in the spring. It is a good place to network and it has produced some sales.

As the others have stated, shows, fairs, special events, etc are great opportunity to get your name out there, especially when starting out. I participate in the local fair here. It runs on a Friday and Saturday. I will have a display at the fairgrounds that includes at least one piece of equipment plus pictures and a video presentation of what we do. There is also a parade on the Saturday Morning of the fair that we will have a piece of equipment rolling in. Great advertising opportunity!

any dealership or are you talking a paticular brand? Bobcat is usually there, so I am going to talk to the rental guy to lend me something..

Any smart dealer would. That would be free advertisment for their product.
