I have read in several places that the weeds present in a lawn can tell you a story about your soil condition. For example, violets thrive in acid soil, and cannot survive in alkaline soil. Surprisingly, while I have seen indicator weeds mentioned in several books, fact sheets, etc, none of these weeds have given a list of weeds, and what their presence indicates about the soil.

Does anyone know where I could find something explaining this? A web link would be great, but if noone has a link, a book title would be helpful as well. I did find a book titled "Weeds & Why They Grow", but was hoping to find other sources.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Add this to your library http://attra.ncat.org/attra-pub/PDF/turfcare.pdf
pg. 35 for conditions that favor weed infestations.

Excellent link!!!

That is exactly what I was looking for. I actually downloaded that same document last night, and had skimmed over it and completely overlooked that part. Thanks!!
