I'm looking at a new logo design because of a name change, Considered Wraps but they are cost prohibitive.
Here is a Photoshoped Idea. How do you think this looks? I wanted a clean design without too many colours that would stand out from a distance.
Comments & Suggestions appreciated

Nice, but too much info. Get rid of the 3 lines in the middle of the door, and maybe move the phone number to that position. Get rid of the rest of the info on the front fender. It just looks too clutered.

I like it, But I Strongly urge you to delete the lines that say, Because a beautiful home doesn't have to cost the earth. Just reword or tweak the slogan to be more realistic and mainstream, or delete it out right and list services insted

Its way to busy. I had trouble (slight exaggeration) finding your number. Put your number on the tray in large font like your business name. Make it as easy as possible for people to write your number down on the move.
Other than snow removal, it doesn't really say what you do. What exactly is property maintenance? Do you change light bulbs, oil squeaky doors? I would have lawn mowing and or landscaping on there somewhere if thats mainly what you do.
IMO.....
Put the hands on the door with your name above it.
Put your number where your business name is now in same or slightly smaller font.
Describe what you do where the hands are now, over the fuel cap. Dont go over board! Just a few lines.
Remove everything from the fender and keep clean.
Main focus should be on what you do and your contact details. I do like the hands though!

Ditto, the first thing I thought was "I hope that pick up is a hybrid".
Not the message you want to put on a fossil fuel guzzling, carbon spewing, pick up truck.

Thanks for the input, Good to have some extra eyes look at it.
I had him put the hands where they are to cover up some scratches.
I'll put the kid back to work :)
It was actually my 13 year old son that did it.
He also whipped up a website in a couple hours,, Damn kids these days.

That's what I would do also. Man, your son is good.

I think it looks great....I agree with others though. I would remove the stuff on the front fenders and put the phone number on the door and maybe add lawn maintenance and Landscaping on there somewhere. Just my thoughts, by the way....you're son does some good work.

Have your son change the Eco in Ecogreen to blue. I think the blue and green would add a nice contrast and would give it good symbiotic ying/yang look to it. Could your son photo shop my picture? I could use the appearance of a few less pounds and many less years.

Good Ideas, Thanks.
I think that looks better with the Blue and Green..
This Version looks a bit cleaner I think. He'll have to do something to get the phone number to stand out better though.. But it's getting there.
Ohh and he said he'd be happy to do any design work for anyone here if you want Logos or anything designed.
Completely off topic, Was driving up the road today and saw this on the back of a pickup

That looks heaps better! You could make the numbers stand out but just making them all blue, maybe a slightly thicker font? If I was to criticise anything it would be the services looks a little squeezed in. Make the hands slightly smaller for a little more space.
Could you get him to mock up my ideas, just for comparison. Im just interested in seeing what it would look like is all.

I'd move the services listed underneath the word "GREEN". The hands and gas cap make it look crowded.

My wife loves what he does with some of her Pics,,
But alas, it can also be used for evil.... (Caught him putting a girl her knows face on a , Ummmm Less than dressed body)

Wow...God, are you kidding me? The blue with the green? the idea of the blue was one thing,...but the color of blue that was chsen is whole 'nother. I am reading through this thread, went to page 2 and scrolled down, came to the picture and said out loud "Oooohh..."
Now THAT stands out! That looks sooo good together. Now you've incorporated an element of aqua into it. That is nice! And as far as the part about it being designed by a 13 year old? Come on...Some people got it,...some people don't. If this young man has ideas like this going through his mind now, he will be dangerous by his age of 18. (Talking about the dsesign work, not the girl pic part lol) This is true talent. Tell him to keep up the good work!

No kidding ,, He actually want's to go to Sheridan Collage (One of the best Animation Schools Anywhere, Disney and Pixar hire all the best artists from there) He does amazing drawings, So does my oldest Daughter.. No idea where it comes from. I can barely draw stick figures. Add to that he's almost 6ft tall already.. 18,, Ughhh... Don't even want to think about it.

Last one looks great. If you want to keep the business name that size, could I suggest you rearrange the service's to...
(from top to bottom)
Lawn Care
Home Check
Snow Removal
It will give a little more space!
I also REALLY like the girl one! hehe

I like the final version as Mickhippy suggested also. I would arrange the services starting with lawn care, but I would put the top of the words lawn care starting at the bottom of the word Ecogreen to leave a bit of space next to Ecogreen. To help it stand out and get noticed more quickly. Now to top it off, in red letters on the front fenders place "Fully Insured". That little piece of info is important to the type of customers that you want to target. You will have to turn customers away with a rig like that. Very nice. Oh, by the way, I like the girl also. I would put her in the middle of the tailgate pushing a lawnmower with her rear end facing back , while smiling over her shoulder. That last bit may not sell the types of services you are offering but it sure would be nice to look at. You would seldom get passed either.

Maybe I should get one of the "Pit Bunnies" from the races to pose on a mower and put a pic of that on the tailgate. I think a Hustler would be good.
Something that stands out is important, I'll also be repainting my racebikes this winter using the same logos and on a EZ-Up.. Cross Marketing , Don't you know.
Good point about the insurance, Since I'm insured up the Wazoo

you said your son "whipped up the website"? if you could ask him, I am the owner of a new lawn care buisness just licensed this year in april. a website would really help my customers stay in contact with me and it would help me out alot when I needed to tell all my customers something all at once instead of taking two hours to call them everytime something breaks down or goes wrong. if you could just ask your son how he did it and email it to me a Danieljames1246@yahoo.com it would really help me out.

Well,
Here's the final look. Doesn't look great here because I just have it on paper and a crappy scanner.
didn't go with the outlined letters because it added quite a bit to the cost. But I still think it will grab attention.
There will be a slight change, He's going to adjust it to show less arms and make the hands and globe a bit bigger.
The letters on the box are 12" High and the phone number is 8" high so it should be visible from quite a distance.

I really appreciate everyone's input, I'll post a pic of the truck when it's done.

I guess HomeCheck is a Local Term.. To put it is US Terms.. The Area I'm in has been called " The Hamptons of Toronto" There are a lot of very wealthy people from Toronto who own very large expensive vacation homes on the top of the Niagara Escarpment.
HomeCheck is Simply a service where we visit their homes, Do a external inspection, Check to make sure their furnace is working (By Checking a thermometer in the window) make sure their hasn't been any storm damage, Check for snowloads on the roof, Frozen evestroughs Etc. Take any Mail out of the mailbox and put it through the door slot or elsewhere. If they have a pond we check the level and adjust the spillway if required Then send them a email or text message.
Most of these homes are not visible from the road and are unoccupied 90% of the time.
I usually do it on the snowmobile in the winter and the ATV or dirtbike in the summer and have some fun at the same time.. I charge $20 a visit and can do them all in a few of hours. Most are weekly, but some are twice a week.
43 Houses , $20 a House, Less than 4 Hours,,, Do the Math :clapping:
It's a service that gives them peace of mind when they're not at their home for weeks at a time.

That's pretty cool. I've never heard of that before.
Where you have ecogreen over the back tire wells, thats' where I have my giant phone number. Next year it's going to be a giant web address and no phone number at all.
One question, why are you putting the area code in your phone number? I've only seen Yanks doing that, I'm from Manitoba and I would never advertise the area code and I've never seen anyone do it here either.
btw, I liked the hands facing toward the truck in the first pic much better.

IMHO and I am going to sound harsh but do not mean it that way...It looks great for a 13 year old to have done this, he could have a great future. But, it is not really good design or messaging by any means. Just blows my mind that people think they can do things as good as a pro with experience and training. Why are people hiring you, because you are a pro right? Why don't you hire a pro in the graphic design and marketing field? Leaving the look, feel and truck messaging to yourself and a 13 year old is just crazy!

The final layout was done by a sign shop, I wanted a simple design to keep the cost down because the same theme is going to be put on a lot of other equipment. Bottom line is, It's my equipment & my money but was looking for constructive input. Could I have spent $2500 on a full wrap,, Sure. But that wasn't what I was looking for. I was looking for maximum impact for the buck.
So post up a Pic of what your trucks look like so I can see what a professionally designed and executed job looks like.

When my art is done I will try to remember to post it. Here are a couple sites I have done for landscape related businesses:
http://www.bueschings.com/
http://www.fortwaynerocks.com/index.cfm
You didn't need to spend the $2500 for a full wrap, I agree. As far as constructive input it would take too much of my time to really dig into what you do and how you do it to provide feedback. I will say this though. The services you list on your truck do not connect with your name. For instance it should say Organic Lawn Care instead of just Lawn Care. Then that service ties into your name better. Right now it looks like you are playing green to be trendy. Not really delivering. When there is a disconnect like this it just makes things harder as you go along. I won't say you won't be or aren't successful because hard work and great service can overcome almost anything. From reading your web site I know you do offer "green" lawn services so you do deliver on your name somewhat but just haven't connected it all together yet.
One other thing to keep in mind: The "logo" on the truck and the "logo" on the web do not really match up. It is close but not quite. You need to be really consistent with that so people can instantly identify with it. Identify what your logo is and set it until it comes time to update or modify it.
I am somewhat going to eat my words on the pro designer thing. Your son's layout was just as good if not better than the sign shop. I will say there is a big difference between sign shop "designers" and true graphic designers though.
I apologize for my original reply that did not offer anything constructive.
