Just thought id share some pics of what we are currently doing. Its more of my fathers project as he does the construction side of the business.

This is our church and we are updating the facade. basically what we are doing is extending the roof up higher, about 15' back on top of the original roof. The front will be all done in brick with the white brick as columns and red brick will be the rest of it. new arched windows will be installed with colored film to give the appearance of stained glass.

we ripped off all the aluminum siding that was on the gable, and had to use the cut off saw to cut about 12" of overhang off the original roof.

here are the before pics:

the trench work was done earlier this year b/c the downspouts were tied into the sanitary, and there is alot of work done throughout the city to update this. lots of homes have had this done and I am trying to get the re-seeding work from it.

we used the mini-ex to dig down to get a footer for the new brick that will be put up.

the engineer that designed the specs was a real ahole. original plans called for a 30' steeple on the top, tied down into the original roof which is 3" thick tongue and groove boards. the axed the steeple idea but he refused to change the design, and refused to work with the lumber company which is why we were stuck with installing double trusses.

current progress:

a shot of the trusses we installed:

next year we will be insulating the rest of this roof, 2x6's with insulation in between and new sheathing+roofing.

we are going to be doing this re-seeding since the trench work and all the traffic from the construction.

the front sign will be re-done as well, the bed we will expand, stacked stone column with a new sign in between with skyrocketing junipers on either side.

The trusses really add to the building's "heavenly use".

crazy... that church should have spent money on missions either inside, or outside their community before building up a self-gratifying facelift to their church.

Wasted kingdom money right there, just my $.02.

There's a church in our area that has gone 3 million over the budget and they are asking their members to re-finance their houses and properties and loan them the money, members are running like hell now, that's no way to build a church and worship in a church, that's how you run a business into the ground.

What I dont understand, why do they need that fancy of a building? You get the same message out of a run down warehouse as you do a 3million dollar building..

That's religion for ya, it's all organized, and God seems to be a real money wasting woman, because churches are always asking for more, more, more!

we have a very involved missionary program that is run through our church. going everywhere from uganda, turkey, romania, moldova, and many other places. Two guys from our church(one of which is my uncle) began Countryside Missions several years ago, and now every year there are several hundred people that go on mission trips all over the world.

We belong to the Romanian Baptist Association, so all the churches are organized together b/c we all know each other since immigrating here and every year after the mission trips we have a large convention here where people present on what went on and so forth.

next year will be our churches 100th anniversary here in cleveland (this is our 3rd physical location) and they wanted to update the look of the building. We have been at this location since 2001. Our last building we had been in we sold to a Ukranian church for the exact amount we paid, we made no profit off the sale, its principle. just wanted to let you guys know, we are pretty traditional around here and we really dont waste money.

Looks good! I don't see anything wrong with a nice Church. It is God's House! Why would you want it to be broken down old building?
