Mahindra has a new truck coming out in 2010, this truck has piqued my curiosity. Signed up for more info and a test drive 2 months ago. Haven't heard anything yet.

Supposedly Dodge has a downsized Cummins for the Ram 1500, but it may not hit the road until the 2011 model year. The new Ram Heavy Duty trucks look awesome. Dishman Dodge may have a 2010 3500 on the lot as soon as the end of the month, I'll check it out to satisfy my curiosity.

Ford has 2 new engines hitting showrooms next year.

Not sure what GM is doing, but I have heard rumors of changes to the D-Max.

It's going to be a year worth watching in the truck market.

That Mahindra truck looks perfect for odd tasks such as aerating and estimating. Supposedly, it even will have a snow plow available from the factory. Too bad it doesn't have very good aesthetics (IMO).

Stop and think for a moment, an ugly truck is a good thing.

When you beat on it like a red headed step child you won't feel bad.

I'm digging 3 things on the Mahindra.

1. 30mpg.
2. $22K price.
3. 3,000 lb payload.

Mahindra is Indian built, come to my neighbourhood and see East Indian culture at it's "finest" and you will run away from Mahindra. Cheapest built trucks and tractors in the world.
Buy Mahindra and you are supporting a piss poor nation that doesn't care about the environment, research the ship breaking yard they have in their back yard, they don't even bother to think about the toxic crap they dump into the ocean.
There was a dealer that sold Mahindra tractors here, they went broke after the first year, it says alot about my area here when there is a 40% East Indian majority, and the East Indian berry farmers steer clear of Mahindra tractors, even they say they are crap.

I read a more extensive article on these, honestly I thought it might be a decent near-term alternative to my 3/4 ton diesel, which I just don't need such a heavy truck that often.

However...No manual transmission will be offered. That's a deal breaker immediatly for me. An for $22k to start, for a 2wd truck - that's a lot of cash for what reminds of an old Ford Curior (what I drove in High School) that has, at best, and uncertain parts & service network behind it.

And - I also agree that supporting countries who don't consider enviromental impacts of thier manufacturing processes is a very poor idea. Wait a minuite, where was that leather jacket I'm wearing made...China...

I would love to see a small diesel in half-ton trucks, as well as compact trucks.

If you could get me into that thing you would need to rip the doors off to get me out.
