I have a FC430V with no spark It has ran very good for years until it was running and backfired and died.I just got a brand new coil (oem Kawi) and put that in and still no spark, the engine has great compression so I dont believe any internal damage is there. Its on a Exmark Metro 48 I have tried bypassing all saftey switches (pto, tranny and handles) and still no spark any input before I buy a new motor???

Also it is getting plenty of fuel just to rule that out.

I like to eliminate the no/low cost stuff before buying coils and modules especialy on mowers that have set out. The harness that goes to all your safety switches terminates down at the motor in two wires. One should be grounded to the block the other goes up to the ignitor module. Un hook either or both so you are totaly isolated from that system and check spark with a new or known good plug. If no spark then remove the shroud and check the magnets, never seen any go bad but always check. Follow the wires from the switch. One goes to ground, the other is in the primary wire that runs from the coil to the ignitor. Unhook both and insulate the one that goes to the coil. if still no spark. You need an ignitor. Most shop techs will tell you to replace coil and ignitor at the same time. If you have no air gap spec for the coil to flywheel use a business card and make sure the magnets are under the coil when you set it. About it there isnt much to the kawa ignition system. Oh, you do need to check all the wires for bare spots, espicaly at places where it is near the shoud or block.

I have already unhooked the 2 wires and no spark so I guess its the ignitor, I wire brushed the flywheel abd blew it off to make sure of good contact and same so I will try to get an ignitor. Thanks

Did you set the coil gap properly?

Because if you just put the new one on there without setting the gap...
A business card works dandy for this.

Hey by the way...
Ever get those pesky "I own a business TOO" folks come up to you and hand you a business card?
And you really got absolutely NO use for what it is they do, not to mention that since you don't know
them from Adam there's about a fat chance you'll be sending work their way...
But you can't say anything, instead one tries as politely as possible to gtfo of the conversation?

Yeah...
Now you know what them cards are good for lol

Probably an FC420V. What is the spec number? Be in the format of AS03 or DS05 something like that.

The older ones had an igniter besides the ignition coil. Guessing thats whats bad and needs replacement.

Problem being I get 20 of those cards each week and set a coil gap once or twice a year, LOL:rolleyes:
