I am restoring (cosmetically) my STIHL Weed Trimmer and ....

1) Yellow Operation Warning Sign. that goes on the long trimmer metal shaft. If you ordered them from a STIHL dealer, is it supposed to come with a decal applicator? If not, how did you accurately put it on without any wrinkles ?

2) Model number decal anywhere that goes on top of the yellow operation warning decal on the long trimmer metal shalt such as FS80R, FS80R, etc *a foil sticker. Where can I possibly find one?

3) Could you tell me the measurement from the tip of the shaft to where the yellow warning sticker sign start? (I need to know where exactly to put it on the saft as close to the original).

Thank you much.

Is this an old, old Stihl? like an antique? If not, why would you even bother replacing stickers? especially on the shaft where after about 1 months of use, they cant be seen anyway! You could probably get the stickers from any stihl dealer, but I bet they are pricey!

HI, thank you for a kind reply. I am restoring / servicing the trimmer to be clean working condition to sell them. so my buyer will be 100% pleased with their purchase. The dealer told sold me a yellow warning sticker for $5, but was unable to find a model decal after 10 days from the order.

If you really want the model decal, you could find a picture of one and take it to any sign maker, like the ones who make truck and trailer signs, and they could make a model decal for you, probably pretty cheap too. You would be surprised what they can reproduce!

As far as getting/keeping the wrinkles to a minimum.....Use an old hotel key, or credit card. Apply the decal from the center out if ya can, or completely from one side to the other. On the shaft it will pry be tricky whatever way ya do it. X2 on taking a pic of what you need and taking it to a vinyl shop.

So is the reason you want it to look original so you can sell an old worn out trimmer as brand new?

Pry won't get away with telling people that they are NEW....but at least the old trimmer would look better, and possibly get a few more $$ outt a them.

I'll take measurements tomorrow when at the shop. I only have straight trimmers though.

Also why is this in the trucks and trailer threads?

I have to have the same guess. I hate this stuff. Just like the shady used car dealers that polish that turd really well, spray paint the whole underside, spray the shine crap on everything else, just to get people to NOT notice that it's wore out.

It's a trimmer. All the effort and expence you are going to putting new decals on it isn't going to pay off. If it's that bad it's worth $50 to $75. No matter what.

If I'm buying a used mower, or whatever, I steer clear of the ones that have the "fresh paint job". That tells me that it was neglected forever, then now all the sudden it's "like new". It's still worth the same.
