I wanted to ask if any of you have been using the synthetic oil. To my understanding, there is only one way to mix...no 50:1 or 32:1. Is this true?<br>I currently own Echo and Redmax equip. The Redmax says to run at 32:1, so that's what I use in both brands since the richer mix won't hurt the Echo. Do any of you Redmax users run 50:1 ? My dealer is only going to carry 50:1 and synthetic from now on.<p>jeff

I use Amsoil 100 to 1 mixed at a ratio of<br>80 to 1. Five quarts of 87 octane to 2 oz of oil.<p>No smoke. No stink. No engine problems.

I use the Amsoil 2 cycle 100:1 as well. I have been using it well over seven years with no trouble. The great thing about it is, it is hard to screw up. Wether it ends up at 100:1 or 60:1 it will still work fine. I usually splash in 8 ounces or so with 5 gallons of gas.

My dealer uses something that works in EVERY kind of gas mixture. No more mixing ratios. I cant remember off the top of my head, but ill check it out tomorrow.

I've been using Amsoil in all 2-cycle equip for 5 years now, mixed at 100:1 with not one fuel related problem. You can get the small bottles that have graduations on the side to help you mix. I'd never use petro based 2 cycle again for the above reasons.

Acute,<br>That must be the synthetic mix. Since Redmax recomends such a rich mix, I would hate to try something stupid and burn out a couple of blowers.<br><p><font size="1">Edited by: jeffyr

I don t know about it hurting or not
but too much oil in mix can sure gum
up exhaust and they don t run to well
that way

WOW 100:1 mix thats twice the manafactures ratio wont that gum it up and smoke more? We run 50:1 and thats whats listed on all machines. Agian 100:1 thats seems overkill and bad for machine.

100:1 in a synthetic will offer equal and often greater protection than a petroleum based 50:1.
Will it smoke or gum more? No. A leaner oil mix will be a lot less likely to smoke and create buildup in engines.

landscaper3, 100:1 is half as much oil as 50:1...
Brian C. 100 to 1 is half the rate for oil as 50 to 1. Therefor its not going to smoke a lot.

We all know that we should follow the manufacturer's recommendations but when a cutter purchases a variety of brands he sometimes gets confusing information from a variety of sources. My personal record is finding 5 different premix containers on one cutter's truck.
If you wish to use a synthetic then Amsoil will work great. Optimol is probably the best choice for a high ratio petroleum product. Over the years several manufacturers have sold Optimol under their brand name (echo, redmax'max oil', and a few others} with great results. We stock and sell Amsoil, Optimol, Echo, Shindaiwa, Husqvarna and Lawn Boy oil. Each person seems to have their own ideas about which oil works best for them but if they ever looked inside Spectrum Oil Company's delivery trucks they would find pallets of the major brands of oil sitting side by side. Take a close look at the oil containers, don't the look alike except for the color and label? Many are packaged on the same assembly line, however, the contents will be slightly different to meet the specifications of each manufacturer.

I run everything at 50-1 with Shaeffers synthetic 2 stroke oil.If your running at 100-1,you are running a very rich mixture, fuel wise, since there is less oil going thru the jets of the carb.you might have to readjust the carb screws to get it to run clean. If your 2 stoke calls for 50-1 and you run 32 to 1,you are actually leaning it out,as weird as it sounds,so if you do that, richen up the carb slightly to compesate,2 strokes run great lean-then they seize.
I ran it about 15 min today in cheap blower
It seems to work well.At 50-1 the blower
oscilated a little . That seemed to stop
with amsoil.Ill let you know if there is any
thing else i learn after a try on some
good equipment.Im sure you long time amsoil
users can understand why folk would be slow
to experiment with their top line equipment.
SO FAR SO GOOD

I just can't see when Redmax is recommending 32:1 and you run 100:1 you are not going to seize ? I know it is synthetic, but that is 1/3 of the oil recommended.

Your comparing apples and oranges. I don't know what else to tell ya. I have been running it for 8 years with less smoke and plug fouling and no engine troubles.

amw,it stopped oscilating because it s running a tad richer now, because your at 100-1.They only oscilate when the carb is lean.Jeffyr, the remax should be fine at 100-1,but id run it at 70-80-1 to be safe. You might have to lean out the mixture screws on the carb a little if it runs rich.

use OPTI-FUEL .synthetic mix.good for all mixtures.they sell it in little mix pouches that will mix 1 gal.or you can get it in a 12 oz bottle. 1 oz for every gallon. real simple.i use it in all my 2 stroke machines.

I run "No Smoke 2 Stroke" in my equipment, It's the best stuff since sliced bread, works for all ratios, just pour 1 bottle into a five gallon container and go.

I've always ran 4 oz. to a gallon of Pennzoil 2 stroker, or occasionaly another brand. I get a little oil out the exhaust, but it never hurt. All my equipment ALWAYS ran great, and lasts for years and years.

I am running Amsoil 100-1 mix in my Redmax equipment(2 blowers, 3 trimers) with no problems. I switched over at the first of the season. No more plug fouling, no smoking, or ports plugging up. The equipment starts up a lot easier. Also my two stroke fuel cost went down after switching over.

Optimol 100-1 2 cycle oil is not a sythentic. The Qpti injection oil is part synthetic.
Someone asked earlier in the thread where to get Amsoil on line. Here's their on line store.
