Pics from the last day and a half....thermo fusion of 6" HDPE. Its a small job so no major stacks of pipe.

The pipe you start with and the bead joining it together.
Plus one gratuitous picture of my F350.

Never seen a plastic pipe welder on tracks before.

This stuff is getting real popular up here lately. Mostly seeing it used on new gas line work.

Do you rent the fuser-thingy? I've seen some mainline irrigation on cranberry marshes done like that only like 12".

Will that line be a water line? What are the different ways in which fused pipes like this can be used, water, gas, etc.?? I've seen this method used for the Natural Gas lines around here but it's always been a bright yellow pipe, and I've also seen it used for Geothermal piping, but other than that it's new to me. Sorry for the questions as this is a new subject to me.

Once the pipe is welded the joint is just as strong as the rest of the pipe.
They used to make huge hoola hoops out of plastic pipe it was 12 inch diameter pipe and the diameter of the circle was 50 feet. They were made for salmon farms. The guys welding the pipe said it is water tight and strong.
As I said never seen a pipe welder with a tracked carrier.

Rental on the machine(for now)-you guys cannot believe how much that machine costs. All we use is the track machine unless fusing something terribly inconsequential. Here we're fusing the main together with the service laterals later. The service laterals require a different type fusion machine and style.
According to all of the pipe suppliers and fusion companies the joint is actually stronger than the pipe itself. Yeah, I know, sounds crazy. There's molecular dynamics at work on that end. All I can say is that you can drag miles of the stuff and the joints stay intact all the way through pressure testing.
Gas pipe is always yellow. This job is gravity sewer but all the other utilities are an option.
We uncovered the terminal connection on Monday. It was underwater and has been draining water for four straight days. Still waiting for it to dry with rain today. Something tells me that this will be a "slop and mop" job at that end.
