I am planning on starting a lawn care business next spring. I already have a 6x12 enclosed, medium duty, single axle trailer w/ ramp door. I have added the weight of my equipment and it will haul it all fine. And my 48" husky z fits fine. My question is: I see 90% of lawn companies in my area using "open" style trailers... are there any major benefits to an open trailer? There must be some benefits, because like I said 9 out of 10 guys are using open trailers.

As for my enclosed trailer.... since I already have it and it is paid for, I am going to use it for a while. I know most open trailers have the racks for weedeaters/blowers etc.... but i plan on putting some shelves in mine to get the stuff up and off the floor. But I would like to know just to know, and if the benefits are greater I may start shopping for an open trailer.

thanks

most trailers you see are open simply because of teh price difference's
benefits are you can haul loose materials easier ,they are lighter in some cases , and you can see better behind you while backing up and what not .
enclosed you have a safty feture of leaving equipment loaded and knowing it will be there when you come back , its always dry , and more resale value . Just to name a few
