Yes, you can convert to an electric start, but it will be costly, its usually cheaper to just sell your pull start and buy a used electric start, unless you could find a donor mower for all the parts. Im not sure of what you are asking about the enclosed versus open trailer and the ability to start it?

It will be several hundred dollars to turn your engine into an electric start. I can understand why you would like to convert it to an electric start since you want to get the enclosed trailer, you don't want to hit the side wall when you pull start your mower. If your willing to spend a few hundred dollars on converting it, it can be done. I personally like enclosed trailers best, but just can't justify one yet.

Even thou I have an open trailer I always unload my Wb's deadstick, no engine.
Why, because one wrong move and it can get real disastrous quick, especially when
I'm standing behind and on the down side of a heavy, powerful mower.
So, I never start my Wb's until they're off the trailer.
What engine is on it? Kawasaki offers a clockable recoil now for the V-twins.
Other engines can be clocked more easily. Point the recoil in the best direction for starting for however you plan to park the machine inside. Usually pointing toward the operator position is what works best. Reach over the gas tank and pull.

Yeah. I think the price for a electric start conversion is closer to a grand if you buy the parts from a dealer. You'll need:
Correct flywheel
Stator
Voltage regulator
Battery and battery box
Correct key switch
Possibly a different PTO switch
Correct wiring harness
Battery cables
Possibly different or additional safety switches
Starter

you could keep the mower on the side of the trailer so that there is more room to pull it or you could unload the mower before starting it
