View Full Version : How tall is your leaf rig?
How tall is your leaf rig. Many people on here stack huge boxes on top of a dump. How tall is to tall?
Our leaf box will total 9' ground to top.

4 ft above dump trailer rail. During last Fall's cleanup I never really loaded over 1/2 full before I dumped anyway, so anything higher would certainly be overkill.
The Lesco leaf sucker I have mulches the leaves pretty well, so they really compact in there...I don't like leaving my leaf trailer with a load in it because if it rains your load weight doubles...I dump as soon as i can.

I think the max height you can be is 13'6". At least in Idaho, other states may have different regs.
You can go taller, but you need an over height permit.

13'6" is standard for most semi trailers for bridges and such. Mines not complete yet but it should be between 9-10 feet from top of roof to the ground.

hey f u to !!!!!
I keep 33" sides on stake body 6 months out of the year.
I am now adding 33" sides to go on top.
Our dump trailer in years past was tall but never had problem with low wires or bridges. I'm concerning myself with customers trees, and obstacles that we may occur at the job site.
I must put tall sides on just to match up the loader.
Second picture is the old leaf rig

If you have a flatdeck I wouldn't go anymore than 4 feet unless you have a structurally built box.
man put some paint on that sucker!
Yes the leaf loader looks ugly. But with 620 hours and Perkins diesel makes up for it. Next summer we may take it in and give it a touch up.

9 foot box on top of a flat bed, which is about 3.5 feet from the gound. So about 12.5 feet ground to top. Pretty high, but necessary if you don't want to be dumping 5 times a day.
