Hey guys
I was wondering if any of you knew if there was such thing as trailer jacks for the back of the trailer. The reason I ask is because My guys and I are sick and tired of standing on the back of our very small trailer and the tongue shooting up sending all of our equipment on to us. I was thinking I could just buy two regular trailer jacks and put them on each side of the back of the trailer

Any input is great!

You could get some RV leveling jacks, or... don't unhook from the truck until you offload the equipment.

There are trailer jacks or supports for the rear of trailers. The only time that I have seen them, they were on enclosed trailers. Why not just leave your trailer hooked to your truck? If you need to un-hook at home: Can you not just use a set of jack stands to support the rear?

You can easily put some regular trailer jacks on the back. Get the ones that fold up and weld them on the back, when you don't need them fold them up. If you look at enclosed trailers, you will see that many of them have stabilzer jacks in the back so you can unload the trailer without having it hooked up to the truck.

Get some 2x2 square metal drill a 1/4 to 1/2 " (depending on the size of pin you and to use) hole all the way through it. Weld those pieces on to the trailer frame at the rear. then get some square tubing that will slide nicely into it and drill mulitipul holes all the way through it weld a small piece of metal on the bottom for a foot. then you can drop them all the way down to ground level and put a cleviz pin through them that should fix your problem. I have seen people use regular trailer jacks expecialy on heavy equipment trailers to support the rear but i have made a couple for some trailers in the way that i describe and they work really nicely for light trailers. The way i described is similar to the way the drop leg jacks work on heavy equipment trailers and goosenecks where you drop the leg to the ground and then jack them up. This way you are not really concerned with lifting, but simply support touching the ground

The reason we don't leave it attached to the truck is because sometime I will leave the trailer a house with the guys and take the truck to another job.

Old lawn mower blades work quite well for jack feet cut the cutting edge off and use the flat section in the middle you can even weld the hole shut if it bothers you. I did that on my tounge jack and it turned out very nice much better then the 20 bucks they wanted for a foot at the supply store and the metal is very strong n durable.

Sounds like an expensive thing to do when you could just take the equip off 1st and put it on last............

Easiest thing I can think of would be a pair of jackstands.

Jack stands would be the way to go in that situation for me, no need to add them when you can just keep them in the trailer. They sure would come in handy in a few situations i've had!

I put a pipe mount bulldog behind each wheel. Primarily for changing flats but they come in handy for loading a trailer when it's unhitched plus I take the weight off the tires when not in use. I have a huge 14' with a 5' tongue so I like to get the weight off. Tony
btw-There are pics under my username.

use some scrap 4x4s, 2x4s or 2x6s! i have a few on the trailer for many uses: wheel chocs, tongue jack blocks they'd work great for what your wanting to do, plus their cheaper than the rest!

Hey I just bought a new trailer yesterday with the exact stands you are looking for. They are the ones the spring out like on a pop up camper. I will try and take some pics when i wake up this evening around 3

Sorry it took me longer to get the pics than I have expected, we have been busy last few days.

No more waiting here are the pictures.

Just plan appropriately, think about whether any equipment needs to be loaded or unloaded (or not) before un-hitching,
thou I have to admit those rear balance stands in the pictures above look mighty slick, yes sir. :D

it should be no problem to just slide some jacks under or mount themm the the underside of your trailer

Those stands really are nice, only problem I have is when I unloaded my mower with the stands down and not hooked up to the truck. The deck tried to catch on the ramp because with them down the trailer wouldn't dip in the back like it does when hooked to the truck.

One of my friends recently had the rear supports for the side rail crack in two on both sides of the trailer. but his trailer is about 15 yrs old and he only has WBs now, but he used to haul those huge outfront mowers, and we both think it cracked from those, not the WBs, I welded it back for him and it should last the life of the trailer, but that area of an open trailer does get put under alot of stress. Rear jacks would help, but only really needed if you are hauling some heavy mowers. It might be easier to weld support legs on the underside of the gate, similar to heavy equipment ramps.
