We bought a used TK70HST last fall and just now started reworking it. It's gonna take some love.

I originally posted this in the truck and trailer forum, but I think I'm a little heavy for them. Too much ZTR drama.

Sometimes it's hard to know where to start and stop.

Is that rust holes in the gooseneck (second picture) ?

Flip the trailer over look for cracks weld them up. Sand blast it to white metal spray it with primer then paint it a nice pink Juniors favorite color

From those two shots, it looks as though it is in fundamentally good condition. I too would check the underside and a media blast or sand blast would show any cracks. I like your KW too........how many hp and what kind of tranny?

GR Yes those are holes up front. There are storage boxes there, and I don't know why the previous owner let it get that bad.

RSG '98KW 12.7 Detroit 425 hp (I believe) w/ 10spd, somewhere north of 750K miles

I know there are some pieces to be replaced, and even some suspension components. The previous owner had taken some of the flooring out and replaced w/ steel. We'll be replacing w/ wood.

It's a 1990 TK 70HST, the dealer sat on it over a year @ $19000. I bought it for $7500. I hope we can come out on it. It's far better than our '73 Landoll. It's beaten and battered, and that was before we bought it.

I never seen a trailer rust through like that especailly a Trailking.

For 7500 bucks you can't beat that price. Get it cleaned up it will haul what ever you need.

Previous owner did a lot of field drainage and carried a large trencher on it. I can only assume they allowed dirt to accumulate there and that hastened the organic weight loss.

Funny how stuff gets around, we pulled that trialer behind a Mac for years then sold years ago to a local contractor. Made its way up to Chicago huh. Our dealership name in the red circle.

OOPS, I saw Chicago in his sig but didn't read the whole "no where near" part

Makes sense, we have locations in Mt Vernon, an out post in Marion (SP), and Paducah Ky... also Cape Girardeau MO. Give us a jingle if you need repair parts or it, we can help out.

Between paying jobs and bad weather we haven't been able to put a lot of time in on the trailer. But I thought I'd add a few more pics to show some progress. All the steel plates are welded top and bottom. Between that and the rust it's been very slow going. If we could get 2-3 more days we'll be able to hack off all the bad metal.

This is the box on the folding tail where the brace rests for travel. I didn't expcect to find it full of debris.

That's my dad in the pic. Also that is a different KW than was used in earlier pics.

We finished peeling the steel plate off of the tail of the trailer, now only the gooseneck to contend with. I shoveled 500# of sand/dirt/rocks/rust out of the box in the last set of pics. I'll be looking to do something different there. Just don't know what.

That is a big job pealing that plate off. Now if you could have that frame sandblasted and get some paint on it before you resheet it.

Actually we are only leaving steel over the wheels and on the gooseneck. I know that the tail had steel on it but I see no reason to keep it if we don't need it. It's just added expense and weight. The spacing is good and we don't haul anything near the capacity of the trailer. This trailer will hopefully be like new when we are finished. I just can't figure how those boxes filled with debris. Completely enclosed except for drain holes, how did they get 500# of junk in there?

I'am surprised there was steel as decking. A good 3 inch decking will haul what ever you need and alot less slippery when hauling tracked machines.

It is amazing where dirt builds up. I guess it is water that carries it into the nooks and crannys and it collects there.
