That is a common site with combines just like brush cutters on skid loaders. All the dust and heat makes for a good spot for a fire.

That machine doesn't look like it is that old.

I guess the new slogan can be "Nothing burns like a Deere"

It is something you hate to see is a good piece of machine up in smoke.

Accidents happen thou. I caused a machine to catch fire it was a accident it was some sawdust that must have been sitting on the exhaust manifold.

Well, if it were a good piece of machinery would have been a RED one. As it is, this simply a shame, if it were a red one, it would have been a crying shame.

He's a farmer, so I'm sure he's behind on all his payments.

In the last pic you can see the outline of the tread through the flames.

Crazy.

AMEN!!!! It is sad to see such an expensive machine go up since the farmer will be behind in harvesting now on top of loosing a expensive machine. Oh well should have bought something with red paint!

I like how they made sure 1 pic had the extinguisher in front of it, as if they made a attempt to put it out LOL.

If it were an IH they would have been carrying gasoline and matches instead of a fire extinguisher.

They usually don't get hot enough to start on fire though - plenty of time to cool off while you're waiting for the mechanic to show up.

Why would they be carrying matches if it's already on... fire... just sayin.:hammerhead:

Well I guess I was thinking you would want to set it on fire after running it long enough, ya know. Like, you would want to set it on fire to get rid of the thing. Gas alone wouldn't do much good. But I see what you're getting at. Terribly sorry for confusing you. You Missourians are kinda slow.

Most of the idiots end up wandering straight south only to return years later, sans teeth.

This is an old series of photos. Several years actually. Happened in Queensland AU just before the 60 series came out. Static electricity ignited dust collected on part of the hydraulic manifold. (common issue with the 50 series, partially fixed with the 60) Fire spread to the hydraulics and to the rest of the machine quite quickly.

Combines burn very quickly. Our old 1660 caught fire once but we noticed it immediately. Was a dust induced electrical fire. Since then we've always run a drag chain to ground the machine. Works very well.
