They got the 320 sitting there waiting for me. everytime we meet with them the price drops, or they throw something in. It is for sure a buyers market, this machine has been sitting at the dealership for 8 months now, i think they reall want to sell this machine.

The price has came down 400$ a month cheaper, and they have thrown in a tooth bucket, they are working on a guarantee that the arms will never crack, if and when they do they will replace them.

There is nothing wrong with that. If your having good sucess with BC machines keep using them.

The thing with Bobcat around here is people have the stigma it is a Bobcat we can rent one. Because every rental place rents Bobcat mini excavators, wheeled and tracked skid steers to the public. Why should we pay him to do a job when we can rent the same machine.

You show up with a Cat or John Deere skid steer or mini excavator that stigma isn't there. People see that and think it is different I guess because you can't rent one of that brand

I think Bobcat skid steers are good they were the first pioneers in the skid loader market.

Yeah I see what your saying gr.. I must say gravel we have success with bobcat machines if we didn't we wouldn't buy them.. Thing is i always give cat, deere, and i even gave asv a shot last year.. We felt bobcat was better. I'm not biased either because we love the cat 305ccr it was nicer then the 337 so we bought it.. If there was a another skid steer that impressed me more then bobcat skids it would be in my yard..

You use what ever works the best for you.

Some people use nothing but CAT because it is CAT.

Nowwadays there is so much equipment that is made by one manufacture with different colour paint.

I use Ford trucks they work the best for me just the way I'am.

that 773g was a good machine. The first one's had too small of a clean-air filter opening on the cab. They widened it in later years, I think. I had few issues with the machine but traded too soon for an s250. It would have been nice to have kept a lighter machine that could still lift 2k when pushed to it.

I traded mine in for the s185 in 04.. We had about 2200 hours on it. It was a nice machine. we also had a 763 which was a great grading machine.

Those old GMCs had a distinctive sound if they had the old 366 gas with the 5spd or even 5+2.

The transmissions howled and the old 366s had a engine roar.

No I didn't say they still don't have them I meant they had one and maybe a dozer and that was it not a skid steer, mini x, compact tractor and so on. Back when my dad was in the biz he had 2 dump trucks and a 680 case construction king as his main tools but that was also when a contractor could do everything from dig the basement to building the entire house.

Gravel Rat

Backhoes were common as mud 20-25 years ago mainly all Case 580s.

The old Fords were not that common but the Ford wheel loaders were common with the highways dept.

Yep back 20 years ago backhoes had the 3 sticks and foot pedals most of them were 2wd.

Where I work part time we've got a mini ex, backhoe, compact tractor and a skid.

The mini ex is obviously used for all the excavation. Unless it gets to be a decent sized job, the backhoe might be considered. The tractor is used for clean up and the backhoe is used for pretty much any decent sized grading or excavation job. The only time it's used exclusively is at gas stations connecting wells when they are closer to 8 or 10ft deep.

The skid, well its never used.

I meant that "it must still be before my time" because when things were booming, there were people around here that had nothing but a backhoe, dump and trailer. There is still a guy around here that does. But he's one of the best operators around here and he's been around for 40+ years.

The first truck I drove was an old GMC 7000 with a 427 and a 5+2! what a beast that thing was. It was a great truck for tailgate spreading though. I kinda miss it sometimes, a little bit, but not really that much! LOL she was a good ole' truck, she sits out in the field now with grass growing in the box and mice living in the dash!

I don't really care for the newer 3500-C5500 models, but I'd still take a newer C6500 or up :cool2:

But I like the older GM medium duties better. Been actually trying to find one for cheap. A guy in Clio (about 5 miles north of me) has an old GMC 7000 ex-fire pumper, 5K miles (thats not a typo either), great shape, looks like its 5 years old, 427 or 454 gas motor, 5+2, chassis cab (no body) and he only wants $1500 for it!

He's got another 7000 in a dump truck, municipal orange (love that color :cool2: ), 8.2 Detroit "fuel pincher" Diesel, automatic, 40k miles, decent shape, has some rust, theres a hole in the drivers side floor but from what I've been told that can be fixed. I'm not sure what he wants for this one but if he wants only $1500 for the other one thats virtually new, he might sell this one for really cheap like maybe $500-$1000 but I'm dreaming :p
