What are the best chemicals to use to clean an asphalt shingle roof? I need something that will be safe for the grass and plants below.
Thanks

No such thing at the moment. The only thing recommended by the roof ing manufacturers is sodium hypochlorite, tsp and borax. Anything else and you void the warranty. protecting the plants is easy, just keep watering them. Take a look at http://americanroofcleanersassociation.activeboard.com where they teach how to properly clean roofs. No pressure and the proper chemicals. They also teach you how to protect the plants.

Hire a professional, PLEASE! Roof cleaning is NOT something that you want to get yourself into if you aren't familiar with the proper process. There is absolutely not a chemical that is plant safe for roof cleaning AND approved by the "powers that be".
