i was looking at purchasing a dt712lp-12 but really was wondering if the extra 2000 pounds was worth paying 500 extra for. the other thing was the trailer shop has the dt712lp-10 in stock vrs the dt712lp-12 i would have to pay freight to get it. so is the extra 2000 pounds worth it. any impute would be appreciated

What kind or size truck are you going to be pulling it with???? I use a 1/2 ton truck and have a 10ft trailer.....I find that about 4-5 yards of mulch is all I want on the trailer....its about all the truck wants to handle safely......unless you have a 3/4 or 1 ton or need the extra weight to haul dirt or stone.......I dont see the need to have the extra capacity

its always nice to have your axles better than you regularly haul. Stronger components, bigger brakes, etc. Aside from your truck you might want to look into trailer requirements. The extra GVWR could mean higher registration, different DOT requirements, it depends on the state. All that said, Ive never wished I hadnt upgraded a piece of equipment.

Is it the heavy duty model? I have 2 of them. One is a heavy duty, the other is regular. I would say go for the higher gvwr because you don't know when you'll need it. And go for the 12' because again, you'll wish you had it. I have a 6x12' and a 7x14', wishing i went for the 16'.
