I was just curious how many people on here have dealers that let them charge parts, service, etc....and then send a bill at the end of the month.
Also how many of you are getting better discounts on your parts etc...compared to the guy off the street?

Lots of back and forth rants with dealers on here.
A dealer who STOCKS parts and provides REAL customer service is a needle in a haystack.
I have charge accounts at dealers, but only use them in a situation where I have a crew on the road and they need something quick and dont have a way to pay for it.
The dealers around me, everyone pays the same whether you spend $10 a year or $10,000 a year.
Hence the reason I buy most everything I can online.

So I'm guessing with the lack of responses my dealer isn't to out of line for not having charge accounts? Sometimes he will cut me a deal if I buy bulk but not usually.

My dealer treats me very well. I buy most of my equipment through him, he services everything, and I buy all my consumables there. I spend a good $22,000 a year at the store.
I've called the service guy on his cell phone at 0230 on a Sunday morning during a blizzard because a snowblower quit. Within an hour I had a loaner. No extra charge.
When my stuff goes in the shop, everything else is dropped until it's serviced/fixed. A good dealer is invaluable.
Anything I buy I have 30 days to pay for. Doesn't matter if it's a $10 spool of trimmer string or a $10K mower.

I sign for whatever I buy during the month, from trimmer line to any of the 2 cycle equipment. He bills me on the 30th, net 30. 10% discount on all the small stuff and blades (aftermarket) $10.00 to $12.00 each.

we get a 10%discount on equipment, parts, I can send a guy over to get a blower, if he talks to me on phone he knows ill be in before weeks end or the early the next week. if i need a part he usually has it. He has been around for awhile, got bought out, and reopened.
When I first started out he let me make payments to him on an aerator, for 3 months and gave me the discount. He was good to me and im loyal right back.
Thats how it is for most of our suppliers. I want someone i can trust, and in return he has a customer for life.

I grab what I need and he writes the numbers down. Bill gets out at the end of the month. I stop by and pay it when I have a chance, he never asks when I'll pay a bill as he knows I will.
For small stuff and repairs he gives a discount. For trimmers/blowers he might make $50 bucks on the sale, so discounted. For mowers he usually gets me demo units that carry larger discounts than just buying new (even though I'm the only one demoing them also).
Besides that hours 8 to 8 are great. Will drop anything if you show up and need something now.

i used to have an "in house" account till this year dealer told me that he had to manypeople stiff him (out of biz, move, etc) that he did away with them. he did set up a credit card though an outside company my number is on file and everything is billed to it.

Never checked if there is a way to set up a account.
They do give a discount on parts to LCO's. I have yet to take the mower I bought there for service, but have taken some older mowers I bought used there(never a brand they carry) for service. They always jumped it ahead of homeowners, even when I was a 13 year old kid.

Myhusqvarna/dixon dealer gives me a better rate on parts and sometimes don't even charge me labor. He even finaced the last mower in house himself for me!

Although the dealer I use now is pretty darn good, the list of crappy dealers is long. From the shotty work on equipment to waiting weeks for a cable. I had one dealer try and charge me a freight fee. He had set up this big order with a few other company's, for the exact reason that freight on all of the mowers would be next to nothing. I went to settle up and each mower had an additional $150 for freight on them. I argued with him for some 30 minutes. As I was about to leave he finally agreed to honor the verbal price he quoted. Needless to say that was the last time I was in his shop, and he went outta business no less than 2 months later in the middle of the season. You know it was his customer service skills if hes closing shop in the middle of the season. There are good and bad dealers, which is when I find a great dealer I stick with him exclusively until he gives me a reason to start shopping elsewhere.
