Is that the model that you can change attachments ? Going to purchase new trimmer possibly tomorrow and would be nice to buy one power head and use different accesories.

"S"RM 2400?
Fine trimmer.
Prefer the SRM 260 though: more power and a sliver less weight.
i have a srm 2400 adn have had it for 3 years without a bit of trouble. ran it all day one day doig a sediment pond, full throttle stooping only to fill up and it never withered a bit .

I had a 2400 sold it now have 2 2601's and 1 260s (same machine) I like the bigger ones better then the 2400. One ran lean on me last week and locked up I'll short block it in the near future. And i'll be going with it again.

I have both the SRM 2400 and the Stihl FS85. The 2400 stays on the trimmer rack all day, the FS85 kicks ass! I do think the 2400 starts up a little easier, but no POWER!

One more thing the head sucks on the 2400, it tangles up inside and when you bump it sends out way too much line. Maybe its me, but the FS85 doesn't do that.

I've got the SRM 2400. Good trimmer, with no problems for a year now. Hopefully I will get many hours out of it.

have several SRM2400's and they are great machines. kind of like a Timex, takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'.

i like the srm 2400, but it kind of lacks in power.
we have used so many different weedeaters it isn't funny.
lemme see if i can make sense of how we use them.
Lesco 2500 or 2600(older model, and actually an echo with lesco stickers. this thing just won't die. ) main weedeater, and runs great.
tanaka 25cc without brain feed head-tap n go. second weedeater on mowing crew.
new kawasaki(so new i don't know the model, and haven't used it) -goes with a non mowing crew
2 backups. the echo 2400 (just got moved down the line somehow but still decent)
then the stihl fs 85. good trimmer. but i don't like the weight for everyday use.
we used to run all the same equipmnt. but now we have five different trimmers

I'm with scagman on this one the srm2400's have
been good machines for me, but the stihl fs85 just seems
like a better although more expensive commercial
machine. It was hard spending $80 more for the
stihl. In my area the prices are $239 for srm2400
and $319 for the fs85. The fs85 has improved my
trim time due to the power and their head design,
so it should make up the price difference. It's just
another example of " you pay for what you get."
