Situation:
Customer had very little grass - 6000 sft yard.
1) Sept. 1 - 75# Nutrients Plus 6-2-4
2) Sept. 10 - compost topdressed - certified compost
3) Sept. 15 - aerated, then slit seed, Lesco Trigold seed, 100#
4) Late Sept. - lawn came in great - beautiful!!!!
5) Last week, customer called, lawn yellowing
6) Nov. 19 - 75# Nutrients Plus 6-2-4
7) We've had some good grass growing weather - sun / rain / 60-70 degree days -
8) In 6 days have not seen much greening (should I from the ammonium sulfate in 6 days?)
So, what to do:
1) wait on the 6-2-4?
2) I have a bag of lesco 18-24-something - I'm tempted to throw some of this out. We are trying to go/stay organic, but I really don't want to lose this lawn!!!
3) Any benefit to an application of ICT123, or is it getting too late.
Any help would be appreciated.

And no, I did not do a soil test.

Are you sure the grass is NOT going dormant or suffering from a heavy frost? Another possible problem is over watering which causes grass to yellow. Shoot a couple of photo with a few close-ups and let's see.

We've had a couple of frosts - is the new grass going to be affected more by the frost than established grass (which is staying green)? I guess it is a little more tender that established grass. We've also had a couple good rains. I'll try and get a couple pictures on Friday. Thx

That was my thought, too much water/rain.

We're seeing a lot of rust up here due to the amount of rain.
Is that what you have?

Barry - not sure about the rust thing - I don't know enough about it to ID it (rust). I will get some pics Friday - I think I have one of the grass a week after it came out and I'll take a "now" pic.

You are probably seeing rust
Pick a blade and look at it, small dark scars on the yellow blade
It will not kill anything but it will thin the turf and not look they way you would like
You did fine with the app's it will grow out of it pretty quick
You guys have had more moisture in a couple of months than you have seen in 2 years, just the right set up for it

Does rust affect new grass, but not established grass? In my own lawn, my established grass looks fantastic - never better, but in one area that I killed and reseeded, it's yellowing also. Pictures to come on friday - I'm going to get fat (or fatter!) tomorrow.
Thanks everyone and have a great turkey day!

Not all areas are going to be a consistant color once dormancy starts. You had frosts now, so I would not be judging the qualiy of turf based on coloration of new grass. If its rust then hope it goes away, with correct cultural practices, and see what you got next year when things are growing normally.
Enjoy Thanksgiving...

I agree these are the two most likely problems site unseen.
