Estimate your cost, add in your profit, turn in your bid.

for a start you could calculate how much the job will cost you, how long it will take, and how much you want to charge for an hourly rate

for mulching I usually(not always) charge 1.5 x the mowing rate. clean up I usually charge $30-$40/man hr. if epuipment is used then $50-$60/man hr. I always keep in mind how much the customer is going to spend with me through out the year. greg is also right.

In this area. These are prices you can get away with and not have the property manager or owner say ill get back to you.
Hand raking and pruning-$20-25..this is pushing it. Temps are $12 per hour.
back back blower, walk behind blowers-$35

If you want I have a some video and pics of some areas we cleaned with times.
5k property..2 oaks..6 ashes..1.5 man hours...billed $60
28k property..3 oaks..7 locust..2 ??..9 others..18 man hours..9 hours billed because owner son worked beside me..billed $290..filled my 20 yard dump trailer.

ON the 5k I used walk behind blower only. and dumped leaves in his ravine.
28k..we used hand rakes and walk behind blower.
Everything gets blown to the nearest load point.

I billed for drive time as well. The 9 hours for my labor included drive time to and from property then to dump, which was free.

Mulching flower beds..depends on how far away from trailer, do you have to wheel all of it. We did 2 bigger jobs last year both took about the same amount of mulch. here are costs and times.
24 yards. drove along and pitched from trailer. 2 guys on ground 1 in trailer. billed $1200. 11 man hours.
25 yards. 1/4 was pitched from trailer. other 3/4 loaded in wheel barrows and spread. billed $1600..16 man hours.

Mulching leaves into turf is billed by the hour depending on what size mower we use. If it takes the same amount of time as normal no extra is billed. in most cases we didnt trim when doing leaf mulching so the time saved from that offset the extra time mowing, . The yards with all lot of leaves required clean up and dont apply to this.
