I posted this in a different section & got no help.
I was using my Homelite Blower/Vac today to pick up some leafs from my crape mertle, I notice the engine was getting pretty warm. So I've decided that I should pick a new blower to replace it & have the HL as a vac only. Been wanting a excuse to get a new one.
I do couple of lawns right now & trying to get more leaf pick up jobs. I'm thinking that I should upgrade to a better blower now before the HL goes out & leaves me stuck without a blower.
I'm looking for a good quality hand held or a small back pack blower, don't have enough lawns to justify on getting a big back pack blower.
I'm looking at the Stihl BG56(HH), Kawasaki KRB300A(BP), Kawasaki KRH300A(HH), Husqvarna 125BVx or 125Bx(HH), Husqvarna 125BT(BP), Dolmar PB-250.4 4 stroke(HH), Makita BHX2500 & RedMax HB250(HH). Let me know if I forgot one.
I've got a local Stihl Dealer, Husky at the local General Store & Home Depot with Makita & Echo.

you prob got no help cuz you are looking for good at a "below good residential quality" price, its not gonna happen. One thing ive learned now that ive upgraded, is that i wasted so SO SO much TIME, and moreover, money going the cheap route. just my .02

This one I really suggest you to pay a little more for a mid size bp. The one come to mind is Husqvarna 150Bt which is the same as the Redmax EBZ5100. This is a 50cc 496cfm at the tube. You can get it for $299 in a lot of places. Keep your hand held and read the using two blower thread here just from today. You got the right idea not to let your's totally worn out, you can always use a hand held blower even if you have the strongest bp in the world.

Back to your question, either Echo, Husky 125Bt, Kawi and Stihl are all commercial stuff, so you can't go wrong. Take a look at the maruyama BL3200 30.2cc hand held selling from turfEagle for about $200. I always like Maruyama.

BUT, I would not be cheap on the blower. I would invest some money on a good blower. To me 150Bt is the minimum minimum. But no other bp other than the little Echo PB265 can beat the price......Let me say again the LITTLE PB265!!!! Only 26cc.:laugh:

You have a very good point Dj. I picked a new Husky 326RJx trimmer for half price & it's extremly comfortable to use, wanted to thow my HL in the trash afterwards.
I don't have the extra money or income to spend on a good professional blower right now, hopefully in 2011. I'm looking at something that'll get me by for couple of years.

Stihl BG55, I'm in the same boat, needed to upgrade but couldn't justify going to a big backpack blower. This one has been great for my needs.

I have both the husqvarna 150bt and their 125 handblower which I paid 140 for and I paid 270 for the bp blower both of them work pretty well and I say they cant be beat for the price. In real world circumstances it seems like the 150bt almost has as much power as my br600 I know according to specs it does not but I cant really tell a huge difference and at around $200 cheaper it would be a great first bp blower for anyone.

The BG55 would be a good choice. It goes for around $150. I have a cheap Poulan Pro blower that still runs great and always does a good job after almost three seasons. I figured it would be dead by now but its still going. I bought it for like $120 but it now goes for around $100.
