Carpet Snake. There a python, non venomous snake. Many people keep them as pets.
This one was about 9' long. Ive seen one probably double that size before.
Pretty cool snakes!

O man, when I see something like that from my mower, it isnt that I almost hit it, it's that it almost got away. I hate snakes with a passion.

I would have turned the mower around and went the other way on that one.

Thats pretty awesome snake. I hate when people kill snakes just because they fear them and with out any thought if the snake poses a actual risk or not. I caught a huge garter snake this year. I almost stepped on him. He was still quite tired from having just shed his skin and was quite docile. I let him go back by my wood pile.

did you pick him up by the tail and smash him against a rock until he passed out and died???

Here is the difference between you guys from australia and me....

You guys see a snake and immediately think they are interesting and you must at least take a picture of it. You don't care what size snake it is, it could be 2 feet long or 12 feet long, and each one is still interesting. You guys will go ahead and pick the snakes up and try to find out about them.

Me....when I see a snake (no matter the size) I will run screaming like a little girl. And the snakes I see are usually under 3 feet long, and any one over 3 feet would probably make me crap my pants. Now if I saw a snake that big in my backyard, first my heart would probably skip a beat. Then if I haven't already passed out from seeing the snake I would probably sprint down the street and get as far away from there as possible. I am not a runner at all and people tell me that they have never seen anyone run that fast. And then after I run from the scene, I would probably pass out.

If you haven't already figured out, I am deathly afraid of snakes.

Guys, theses snakes are soooo common there hardly interesting any more. They live in ceilings, gardens etc and catch rats, mice, birds etc. Good for keeping rodents down.
Dont get me wrong, I dont pick these things up unless I have a long stick and truly have to. They are slow moving and only get aggressive if you hassle them.

I was mowing my place the other day and noticed a real bad smell. On the next path I kinda sniffed my way towards a dead Carpet Snake. I must of hit it last time I mowed. Im really not pleased with myself about that!

Most snakes will move away if given a chance. Theres only one snake I am petrified of, thats the Eastern Brown snake. Its up in the top 5 deadliest snakes in the world and are very common around here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_brown_snake

Almost stood on one of these (twice I might add) the other day. Sh!t myself! Looked like a brown Snake with a quick glance. Screamed like a girl! http://www.wildlifeqld.com.au/Whip_Snake.html

These two statements are hilarious and exactly like me. I ran like a little b*tch when I accidentally pissed off a moccasin while spraying shrubs when I lived down in Florida.

Well, now I know the ultimate phobia of 90% of LS. . .

I see garter snakes/black snakes/king snakes (once in a while a copperhead) all the time - never ran one over, I just let them go on their way. My employees, however, do everything described in the above posts. Makes for some great moments on the job...
