For all TORO's shortcomings their golf and ag stuff is very good. This was in the new product section of the IA show.

Did anyone here ever try the Toro soil moisture sensor that required you to mix and pour a block of 'plaster' to surround the device?

Toro bought Turfguard and then promptly got involved in a patent dispute over it with another company. I think it dragged on for a while which set them back in really being able to market the product. It looks pretty cool though. I like the idea of them being wireless.

I wonder about the interval between sensors. I would assume sun/shade, slopes, tees/greens & fairways. The wireless is good stuff. I do RB IQ thru the internet and to check the moisture and salinity thru the net would be fantastic!

They can use it with several brands of sensors I believe. You can get your readings on your IPhone/Smartphone. I wanted to go back and talk to them at length but alas time escaped me. They do have a NPR technology podcast you can watch.
