This light came on the other day on our 2004 chevy 4500 dump, Duramaz/allison. We know it has some oil leaks around the seals and my belief is that the light suggests changing the oil. It isnt a low oil level light, that one looks different. Any ideas? Am I right thinking its hinting that we change the oil, possibly because its viscosity has changed and isnt as thick as it needs to be?

time to change the spark plugs.

J/K I think your right the dealer needs to just reset the light. I'm sure if you look on the internet you will find out how to reset it through the radio or however Chevy is doing it now a days.

it's the light to remind you to change the oil. Had you read your owner's manual you'd have known that. I think in order to reset it you turn the ignition on but don't start it, press the accelerator to the floor and hold it then release it.

Relax, its a used truck and we do not have the owners manual for it. Oil level was checked and was ok. Its due for an oil change in about 500 miles anyways. Figured thats what it was. Thanks everyone

no biggie. sorry if I came across a little brash there. I think it is also based of the actual hours run as well.

On the 2005 and newer gmc trucks we have where i used to work after changing the oil you turn the key forward so the radio comes on and then press the brake three times. Might do the trick.
