That sucks. What kind of Scag is it?

Sounds like you have dirt or dust in your starter. Next time blow it out and see if it will start. Leaf cleanups cause this to happen on some units that aren't sealed enough.

that stinks will it be covered under warranty??

The unit has a fuel gauge in it? You mean the one in top of the gas cap? Did you try charging the battery? I would look for loose wires up to the starter including the ground.

Why would the shop have to talk to Scag? Fix the darn starter and gauge..Pretty simple.

Should have bought a Hustler.

Should have bought a Hustler.

So when you hustler breaks down I can say should have bought a Exmark, Scag, Deere, Kubota or Bad Boy? I'm so tired of these comments all mowers have downfalls.

They should fix it without hesitation. In fact, the dealer should have put a starter on it right on the spot.
