I have a full time desk job as of now! :hammerhead: And I am looking to start doing some landscaping on the side this spring. I have worked landscaping for about 7 years total before this job. So now I am in the begining steps of starting a business, so first lets see about a name!....... and my last name I think would be to long and hard for people to say and/or write out! :usflag:

That is a point! That is one thing I didn't think of! :usflag:
Sweet Tater

come up with something rememberable ;) I came up with Sweet Tater's Lawn Service on a trip to Fl, we were talking about what to call the biz and a truck load of sweet potatos drove by and I jokingly said we could call it Sweet Tater's, Momma is Sweet and I am Tater, and it stuck.
It seems to have worked great too because everyone around here remembers it and talks about it.
any other distinct names associated with the area you live. are you in a valley area or a region that has some historical value? Sometimes it really works well if your name represents the fact that you service a broader area!

That is a good point. I live in the Granite State, but that is already taken! I don't want to do anything with New England in it, because I will not be servicing all of NE. I could try something with Patriot in it........

But then people will assume you're not very good at what you do

Isn't your state motto "Live Free or Die"? What about something like
Freedom, Landscape Management or Liberty, Landscapeing or Liberty, Landscape Management You might catch a nice play off both your state slogan and our wor-time climate?

I like that, do you think if I am just starting out as mostly mulching and mowing, that using "Landscapr" in stead of "Landscaping" would be ok? Just when I think of "Landscape", I think of hardscapes and design.
:usflag:
Honestly, my favorite way of using a name is to have just the name, and then a bi-line telling what the company does. Example
Birchwood
A landscape management firm

Green works better than Greener...sounds more adult oriented!
A bad slogan (if you think about it) is "A cut above the rest!" - gives me a good laugh every time! The competition might cut at 2", but I'll gladly cut your grass at 2.25"! So there!

As others here have said I would try to come up with something more unique and memorable versus "green [insert any landscape term here] landscaping ". Keep in mind, I'm not trying to bash your idea or sound harsh...just being brutally honest here ;)

I do agree, and do not think you are being harsh at all. I am looking for constructive criticism, so thank you. And please people keep it coming.
I did get Quick Books up and running on my comp. That looks like it will save some serious time, and keep me VERY organized!!
