Down here that would be considered a good price! I can mow edge and trim your standard property like that in a 1/2 hour. $90.00 an hour sounds good to me.
What are you mowing with?
48 exmark, 36 lesco, 21 lawnboy up here that is rediculous!!!!!!
there is no open land here everythign seems to be weirdly cut and scaped and just hard to cut some yards quickly
BLL,
Thats not far off on price. Definately NOT SCRUB material if thats what your getting at. The "ANY LAWN" part is a little "bold" but I dont know too many I'd get in trouble with advertising that way.
Not many of mine are that small, but accounts of mine like this go for $30 - $40/cut. I'll be in and out in less than a 1/2 hr solo. Now if they want it bagged or some other ODD request, then I'll just walk away.
Actually a 48" WB is ideal for < 20,000 sqft., so your are set up fine for this. 10 minutes string trim, 15-20 mowing, blow and go!

I also do 1/2 acre lawns for $40.00 + tax. Thats the high end in our area.It takes me about 30 -40 min to do a lawn about that size depending on the amount of trimming.

Same here. 30 to 40 with a low degree of difficulty. Now, if they have a gated yard or something, that would be different, but most people that want my services are willing to change the fencegate. If not, I just tell them sorry, it's out of my market.

Just got a one time job (when customer leaves town, about 4x a year) for 2 acres with practically no trimming. If i'm careful I won't have to blow either. $65. I've got a 1/2 acre one for $20 (low side but it's a favor type deal and it's my next door neighbor so I don't have to go anywhere) and a 1/4 acre one for $25. All these are mow trim and blow. I guess my 'average price' for 1/2 acre would be around $18-19. Most of these don't have a ton of trimming and I don't have to blow alot either, mowing is fairly flat out too. I think I can do a half acre in about 45 minutes to have it looking great.

See, I just bid a 1/2 acre of dirt and weeds at $120/cut. There are no lawns of that size out here, just fields. Mostly on slopes behind a 28" gate. ;)
I just closed a deal on a 6500 square foot lawn for about $45/cut. It'll be the biggest lawn on my schedule and will take close to an hour mowing, trimming, edging, and cleanup.
Things are just so different in California...

TGCummings,
What makes .15 acres take so long to do? I can wack out that in about 20 minutes or so?? Must be alot of trim and edging to do and you using a 21" mower?

Exactly. Out here there isn't much use for anything larger than a 21" mower since most of my properties are under 2000 square feet and/or behind very small gates. Lots of small lots with edging/trimming all around. I can mow the place in about 20-30 minutes with a 21" mower, and spend about 20-30 minutes edging, trimming, and blowing out. Also, anyplace this big is multiple lawns. This place has two front lawns (800 and 1100 square feet respectively) and one back lawn (about 4500 square feet). All will require trimming/edging all around and all have adjoining blow out areas.
Things are just different in California. ;)

Ya, and if we stretched our necks hard enough towards each other we'd bump heads:D
Some of our frt yards are bigger than California lawns. When I went out there on biz with my old job I saw what ya'll had for lawns......I must say it was a little comical to me, some pools down here are bigger than the frt yards.
What I will say about California that greatly differs from the south is the attention everyone pays to the details. I was very impressed with the way every business was landscaped and maintained. If we had that level of interest down here then things would be a little more pricey. I was in City of Industry and Long Beach. The house I was at was ????? up one of them interstates ya'll got. Can't remember the town, but do remember how clean it was.

That seems like good advertising to me. Not lowballer #'s at all. $45 for 1/2 acre isn't bad. That's $90 an acre.

I've got a 1/2 condo complex that I maintain. It takes me 1.5 hours to unload the mowers, trim, edge, mow, blow, and load up. There is a TON of edging. Not sure what linear feet is but it's alot. Takes me 30 mins to trim and edge and I'm edging fast. I haven't edged with my new FS 85 RT yet and I know it's been faster to trim everywhere else so it should be faster. 15 minutes of blowing since there is alot of sidewalk to keep clean and alot of precision blowing on the patios of the individual units. 30 mins of edging, 30 mins of mowing, 15 mins of blowing, and 10 minutes of loading/unloading. I charge $45 a cut for this one. Easy money for me. If I had a helper, I'd easily cut the time in half but that's expensive to hire an employee.

Well, I can tell you it wasn't my town, Homer.
You hit the nail on the head with your description of Cali, though. Folks back there come out here and can't believe what they see as far as lawns go. What y'all call 'postage stamps' in the South (and East) we call huge out here.
It's a weird phenomena, but that's the way it is. ;)

1/2 acre with a push mower is alot of push mowing. In that case I would say its low. Around here people would laugh at you if you put a small gate on a half acre lawn.
With my Lazer thats a good price I can not think of many 1/2 acre properties I could not cut for $40. Same here that would be $80 per hr.
