position of striping kit

I have a relative who is a welder and he has agreed to help me build a striping kit. Now where exactly does it go? Like directly behind the deck or behind the mower. I went to a junk yard and found some old semi tire flaps and the guy gave them to me so...
Could you guys maybe show some pics of yours if you have them, chain or whatever. Thanks:)

If I were going to do it with tire flaps, then I think I would go beHIND the mower. Much like the chain setup that drags.
