I'm going to buy an aerator and need some help. What do you think is the best aerator brand & type drum ect? I'm doing small commercial & residential. Thanks for your input

Even as a FIRST aerator, I would recommend a tow-behind. Makes all the difference in the world between work and well, not exactly play, but EASier work. Get a smaller one that can get through many gates and into tight areas, like a 48", and you will knock out aLOT of area, easy. That walk behind stuff is for the BIRDS, man!:) That's alot of WORK! :D

Check out the Ryan aerators, they have been around for ages and have a proven product. Go with the Honda engine.

Ditto Ant, the Classen is much less work than the Ryan.

I looked at the classen link and that looks like just what I need. I will give them a call to find the dealer nearest to me. Thanks for the help

PLUGR

Once you use a plugr, the rest seem obsolete.

I tried the split drive and wasn't impressed.

The plug is so simple, easy to use and does a super job. All the benefits of a LA28 with less maintenance and better hillside stability and a better price.

I agree with the last thread.

PLUGR is the only way too go !
I just bought my first one this year and it has worked out well.
You can use it all day and it's not a burden.
check them out at:

You'll be glad you did.

What is the price of a Plugr? I have a LA4 but am thinking of getting rid of it and buying either a Blue bird or a Plugr.

Why would you move from a Ryan to a bluebird. Kid in my soil's class just bought the bluebird and hates it. Not very reliable or sturdy.

I'm happy with the bluebird I own. I bought one with the honda engine. I've used a ryan but I don't see much difference in the two.

I own 2 plugr aerators. The 1st one I bought 2 years ago and it still has the original belts on it. Just changed the tines on it about 2 weeks ago for the 1st time. If your looking for speed only this isn't your machine. Quality it is.

65hoss,

must be there are no rocks in Tn. How can you go 2 yrs same set of tines with a reciprocating aerator if you have rocks? My tines never wear-out, they just break on the rocks. One thing I would say about a roller type (LA4, LA5, Clessen) aerator is you are not going to break a tine on rocks.

Has anyone had any experiance with the JRCO that gos on the front of a walk behind? I was thinking about getting one because I already have their rake and find it works very well.
