walkbehind drivebelt question

Hi, again! I hope that someone can answer this question. I just installed new drive belts on my gravely. I can shift into any gear when it is moving but when I grab the brakes I can't shift into neutral. Does anybody know why?

Shifting on the fly is not a recommended procedure.
By squeezing your grips, you are not only braking, but you are taking the tension out of the belt allowing you to shift easily and not stressing your transmission.

Your neutral shifting problem may lie within your transmission.

Your brakes and neutral are out of whack.

What is happening is your tranni has pressure on it and that is why you can't shift it when still or neutral.

Start by loosening up your brakes.

Then check to see if it still moves on it's own. If so then your belts may be incorrect or out of adj.

Just have to play with it to get them right back to where they should be to fit the new belts.
