I'm looking to power it buy 12v motor instead of belt. I found a pretty heavy duty motor thats turns 400rpm. If welded up a balanced vertical fan for it and a tin housing it should would well I'm guessing. On a JD tractor that comes lights do you think I could tap into the power for the lights to run that motor, would the power of the motor draw too much and fry my ignition?

I think 400 rpm isn't enough to do more than get in the way of your discharge

400 RPM might be enough if the torque is available. Also, you will need a 20 amp system to run it (if you nave an electric clutch). It won't have any effect on the ign. system. It's actually a clever idea. I wonder why some engineer hasn't done it. Or, maybe they tried and.....................

First of all this could be very dangerous should the thing fly apart on you. As far as powering the 12 volt motor you should run it on a new circuit with an on/off switch and a fuse as well. Just my half-fast opinion....

I know this type of blower system is an available option on many commercial mowers. You may even be able to find one on-line to adapt to your mower deck.

I have an LCO friend that i believe has an auxilliary blower on the discharge of a Dixie Chopper. Heck I may have spoken wrong .Maybe what he had is some aftermarket deal.

I have a DR Leaf Vac connected to a ZTR. I has a 9 HP pony motor running at about what 3000 rpm. I still think 400 RPM will not keep up with your discharge. It's going to be like having something blocking the chute. And before you know it, you will have something blocking the chute.
