We work a little longer each day to get ahead enough on
friday. On friday we do half of our monday routte. It's
commercial sites and they understand. Luckily the weather
cooperated this week so we'll have monday off.

Depends, this year I am but not cutting. I am at the fire station.

To answer your question, no I don't and will not cut on a holiday unless it is a closed commercial property that is behind. Most of my customers will put up with long grass but they don't want a 26hp mower flying around the picnic.

I've always been able to make it a 3 day weekend, but I rarely have the weather problems that lots of other areas deal with.

Not planning on it, but with the rain yesterday and today forecast, I'll be starting out on Tuesday in the hole. I just hope next week is better from a weather standpoint.

I refuse to work on like July 4, but have been known to work some of the other holidays if I was bad behind. Not planning to work monday this year, if the snow melts then I might be able to finish this weeks mowing tomorrow.

We'll get ahead a little today. Usual day tomorrow.
Monday just a handful to do. Start late-finish early.
My wife always pokes fun at me when the weekly schedule starts in May. "See ya' in November!"

For us, a half day tommorrow (Sat.), and off Sunday and Monday. We've been working hard for almost 3 months now, everybody needs a break. We only mow Tuesday thru Friday, so this won't pose a problem. I'm learning it is important not to let the business run you, and this means taking long weekends if you want to. Have a good weekend, everybody. Mike

I don't work on major holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Day. There may be more but I can't think of any off hand...

I never schedule regular cuttings on Fridays so there's always a make-up day built into the schedule. I adjust my rates to allow for a 'free' day during the week. Normally, that day is for equipment maintenance weekly and additional service jobs once a month or so. Next week it'll be used to make up anything missed from the holiday.

I don't want to work, I want to Bang on the drum all day!

Longer hours to finish.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend.

Try to enjoy it however you choose!

Considering WHY we celebrate memorial day...

...if it were not for those who gave all...

...we all may well have been working menial tasks, forced labor or not working at all.

I actually got through today at 1:00 today and will not think about work until tues. morning at 7:00 a.m. Will be on the river for the next three days livin' it up. We have friends flying in tonight from Washington D.C. Tommorow is his birthday, Sunday is mine, and Tues. is my best friends so we plan on celebrating our births and all of the great people who fight so we can live in a safer world. I only work on major holidays if it's a must. This week I've worked over everyday to be able to be off Mon. What a great feeling to know I have a three day weekend.

Got sick yesterday with food poisoning- ate some bad spagetti from Mom's refrigerator.

That put me a day behind. I'll be working Mon. Going to do most commercial accounts.

No work here ever on memorial day only holiday i refuse to work on.
I'll be meeting with old comrades from vietnam and to remember our dead brothers who didnt make it back.
I'll go from there to mississippi to lay flowers on my families vets and war dead .
Its a long hard drive from chicago to kentucky and missisippi but i the least a family can do for its vets and war dead is place flowers on their graves.

No way! I'm off until Tuesday. I may do a sales call or two Saturday. I'm all caught up and even mowed my lawn today (well, the knee high part and weed wacking anyway). My trucks in the shop Tuesday and maybe Wednesday, so I'm doing sales calls Tuesday and brush hogging nearby on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will be really big mowing days but if it doesn't rain I should be o.k. The grass growth rate has finially slowed down here and I'm getting through my lawns in the normal time now.

Over here we have a similar day called ANZAC Day. It is considered poor form to work on ANZAC Day.

Wish I could we weren't, but we are working on Monday. We'll get off around 2pm and go home and have our own cookout on the grill in Remembrance of all who sacraficed! The rest of our families work on Monday too, so it isn't like we're missing anything. Plus, the grass is growing now that we've got rain and we want to stay ahead of it. Soon, it will be raining every afternoon (hopefully).

Happy Memorial Day to all of you!!!

Yep, I'm working. Mainly commercial accounts that are closed. Don't need to worry about cars. Our school district is so screwed up, the kids have school on Monday. If the youngins were out of school that day, I would probably take off and join Grasshog in Charlotte for a tasty adult beverage!!!!!

Well I have no choice but to have every one come in and work Saturday, Sunday, and MondaY, or we will start next week on Tuesday 2 and 1/2 day behind and this is not an option.

This will be the first one in many many years.

Got to love rain and the weather.

I will work every Monday thru Friday, All clients were notified in March regarding the holiday schedule for the season, and to reschedule by telephone if entertaining guests.

If you need a day off this early in the season, good luck, your in over your head. With weather affecting our schedules you cannot afford a day off. Well, some may, but I take my time off from November to March.

Nope!

I busted 'extra hump' on friday and saturday to insure that monday was for visiting gramps (WWII Navy) at the cemetary and reflection upon all those who "gave it all" for my beloved country.......

......and for them tasty grilled center-cut pork chops and cold 'uns on the patio afterwards. :)

As most of my customers (little ol' ladies) are the widows of ex-veterans I don't think buzzing their lawns on Memorial Day would be appropriate anyway.....

God bless our vets! :D
