View Full Version : Relocating to San Diego
I owned and ran a landscape company in Tennessee but now im moving to San Diego and am wondering if you need a contractors license? I have read, that you do need a contractors license if you subcontract another company to do a certain job but do you need one if your company is going to be doing the work? If so, what is the best way to get one?

You need a license for any work over $500, at least as of when I lived there. No license = no requirement for the homeowner to pay you, plus there are some pretty stiff fines for unlicensed work.
I'm sure if you Google "California Contractors License" you'll find all the info you need.
