The cool thing about Organ Pipe N.M. is quiet; no t.v., no cell or wi-fi. Full moon is the 30th; we'll be there for that.

does the desert contain a spirtual contentment for you? the mountains and rivers seemed to call for me when i was climbing , flying and kayaking. quit laughing guys, you'll hurt my feelings. i have a friend i haven't seen in twenty years who banished himself to the moab area and only comes up for air once in a blue moon. he has to be happy

Yes.....We felt naked when we first came down, without the underbrush and tall trees of the N.W., but over the years, the desert has made us appreciate the great nothing .

The desert kicks ass! I'm heading down to our home in Vail, AZ tomorrow. Just for the weekend. Make sure that the house is in ok shape and to check all of the irrigation and see how my ESP-SMT is doing ;) I love the desert in the spring time. It's incredible.

Decided to stay in Ajo and watch one of the very few football games I ever bother with; dumb decision. :hammerhead:

After a night of rain, then clearing, it's raining and blowing again, just like the forum.

When do the flowers bloom?

Mike Leary
01-19-2010, 10:16 PM
If we keep getting the rain, March and April will do justice. I think it was five years ago when it hit perfect; we saw wildflowers in Death Valley that a ranger figured no one had seen for a hundred years.

They're calling it the "Western Wallop" out here; it's blowing clouds and rain our way. :clapping:

We saw one "wash" explode with water up near Wickenburg. Pretty scary if you're so bonked as to wade or try to drive through them.

Going back to the deep for a while to check on the wildflowers, behave yourselves.

I don't know if you got the memo, but they cut down on February's allotment of days from 30 to 28, but for that fourth year at 29, due to budgetary constraints.

Besides, yes, still a smart a$$, I am well.

Starting filling a pond today with runoff in the ditch from our fairly heavy winter so far. Inlet is under 12 inches of ice. Should make a cool site when it pushes the top up. Top has been solid for almost 4 months now. Move some water and remind the 50 horses that they are not forgotten.

Got results today that I passed my CSP (http://sima.org/displaycommon.cfm?an=1&subarticlenbr=15) test and am certified to run a snow business.:dizzy:

Last year was zilch, but five or six years ago they had a wet winter like the one we're having and the blooms were spectacular. We went through Death Vally in late March and there were carpets of wildflowers for miles.

Yeah, you could say I've been pretty busy. Great Grandma finally passed and that sent my wife into some sort of mid-life spin. Lots on my plate right now.

Irrigation is slowly building. I'm hoping to be 90% irrigation by the end of March.

I'm also hoping Mary is ok. Did her foot surgery go well? I called again yesterday and no return call yet.

Glad to hear it, let me know if I can help in any way. Mary did have her surgery and is staying at Jack's in Glendale while she heals up. Things got a little crazy with them and Judy, not sure we'll see them before we go back north.

Oh oh, getting warm down here, now 80 degrees in the coach after a hour with roof air on; first day we've run it. We'll bail north prolly tomorrow or the next day. Want to see how Death Valley is doing, wildflowerwise, on the way up.
