Tommorow I am going to my local Scag dealer to purchase my 1st Scag ZTR. I have a small LCB and the 48inch Tiger cat With the 26HP B&S motor seems to fit me best. Seeing as it is now 2010, the dealer told me he has one of these left that he purchased with last years pricing. So he quoted me $6,250 for it. Apparently once this one is sold, the prices for the same Tiger Cat goes up $700. From what I've gathered on the internet, this seems like a good deal. What do you guys think?

Ok So yesterday went very well. I am offically a Scag forever man. The guy had one last Tiger Cat with 2009 pricing. ($6,250)(or $6,990 for 2010 pricing) I went with the 29HP B&S and a 48inch deck. For a small to medium LCO (20-30 accounts) I'd say the Tiger Cat would be my suggestion. The Kawi engine was pretty costly and the next step (Wildcat) is basically a Tiger Cat on steriods and a crap ton more expensive. I traded off my crappy JD L130 with a snow plow, tire chains, and bagger AND a bad transmission and got $600 for it. If anyone wants the JD, I'd be glad to sell it to you because I won't offically sign papers until April 1st. Yeasterday I basically reserved my tiger Cat and when Im ready to pick it up, I'll actually pay for it. An awesome 2 year warranty and the topping on the cake is the many financing options. I chose the 6 months no intersent no payments followed by a 36 month 3.99% loan. If I pay the whole thing off in 6 months, it is the same as cash. Otherwise if I pay half of it off, I'll be paying less than $100 a month! They also have a 3.99% for 60 months which means $125 a month. Not to shabby! The mower its self is still packed away in a crate so I don't have any pics. Once this snow melts and the grass greens up I will post some pictures to this thread and let you all know how many people I killed trying to learn how to drive my 1st ZT mower!

Can't use big decks in urban enviroment....most trees and bushes are planted about 50" from fences and other stuff. And drainage ditches are such that you can't mow them with a 48" a lot of times. There is a place for the big units.

Welcome to the Scag family. These are no doubt the best made mowers around. I hope you make lots of money with it. Good luck!

You'll enjoy the machine. Seems like overkill on the HP for such a small deck. i will say that I have found the 52" to be nice machine for both commercial and resi work. on campus we have the 52 and the 61 scag. the 52 is more productive and leaves a better cut.

I love scags. I have owned one since 2006. I have mowed over it all and it works great! If you by Oregon filters and blades it will cost you next to nothing to run. You will have it forever!

Yeah my first mower was the scag tiger cub 52" with a kohler 25hp. These are excellent mowers. You will be able to cut your 20-30 accounts in almost half of the time. That little mower has made me a ton of money already and hopefully it will do the same for you!
