Not sure if this is the right area to post this or not.
I think it is....?

Heres the deal.
Im looking at a 2004 Scag turf tiger 61" 25hp Kohler and the mower has 760hrs on it for 3800.00

Or a 2005 Hustler super Z 25hp Kawasaki with 1160hrs but it has 2 new wheel motors and 2 new pumps for 3200.00

Both look like they were taken good care of and clean and always stored inside.
Which one would you guys think would be the better buy?
Thank you for your opinions.

Both are good mowers but I would choose the Hustler since it does have two new pumps and wheel motors (these are big dollar items) and I prefer A kaw over a Kohler even though I have had good luck with both engines. The Hustler does have 400 more hours but it also a year newer which is really a mute point to most. Try them both and follow your gut instinct on which one to get.

I'm selling my JD757 to buy one of these mowers.
I like the deere and it runs great but its got 1300hrs on it.
But to operate it you would think its only got 13hrs on it.
But everyone says the tiger is all that and I did have a 08 super z and loved it but Had to sell it cause money was needed at the time.

Hustler. Like said above, those parts would cost as much as the asking price. Id give $3000 and see what they say.

I would say the Scag is the better deal Your getting 400 less hour for a $600 differance and Im sure they would take $3500 for it, they are both good mowers but thats alot of hours on the hustler. If you owned it from new and knew it was properly serviced then a 1160 hour may not be horrible but who knows how often the oil was changed.

My question is why anyone would buy either of those machines based off of thier names?

A SCAG is a scuzzy woman and a HUSTER a pimp......
To me those names were poorly though out!

I'd go with scag as well...700 hours, still got and easy 2000 left in it. ask yourself Why did they have to change the wheel motors? and pumps? why spend that kind of $$$$ only to sell the unit. Did they fail from poor maintenance? low oil, dirt in the oil. ect...

you may be buying other unseen problems with the hustler...

we have scags tiger cubs with the kawi engines one of which is 05 with many t mroe hours than 760 and other than a one bad idler pulley. no issues. they are well built machines and I have 20 employee's using these things not a solo op where the owner rides the machine and babies it...
