View Full Version : Question regarding trailer measurements

Im having a brain fart today and cant remember. When dimensions of a trailer are given the width is the overall width of the trailer and not the size of the bed?
So on a 6x10 trailer, that 6 foot width would be across from outside fender to outside fender?

No, the 6ft would be the width of the inside, usable trailer floor, not from outside fender to outside fender, (Well, a stated 6ft wide trailer is actually 76" wide, floor space that is),and the length is the same way, yours would be 10ft actual floor space, but on some enclosed trailers, a 10ft trailer would also include the tongue and coupler in the stated length, so the actual usable inside space would be more like 7ft. But all open trailers state the size as the usable length and width. It took me awhile to remember this too.

Ok thanks. So then a 61 inch mower should fit no problem on a 6 foot trailer.

Yes. My 6x12 is actually 77" x12'. I carried a 62" toro ztr last year, plenty of room

No problem, can even fit a 72" deck, but tightly.
