did they really help realign your feet, muscles and back??? sounds good, but i know my feet are screwed from years of forming to boots.

I wore tennis shoes this year - am switching over to boots this year - I am currently trying to choose between a pair of redwing and some timberlands with the gortex. I like the Timberlands but doubt that they will last as long as the redwings. So nothing fancy.

I do like the looks of those shoes though - but what about ankle support? they would be about the color of my feet if I wore flip flops all season and did not put son screen on down here. LOL

I tried Redwings for the first time last season, thinking they would last longer than the Timberlands or Caterpillar brands...not the case. Still only got around 6 months from them, before the sides started to split. I can't wear boots, so they look like hiking shoes with steel toe.

I am going to look at Cabela's this winter to see if I can find a waterproof shoe. Right now I put on a pair of rubbers for when I doing lawn apps. I don't really need a steel toe, but would prefer it. Maybe I'll just buy 2 different pairs...one with and one without the steel toe.

I have had redwings for years. The first pair lasted about 4 years of hard abuse. Then I was able to send them back, lifetime guarantee!! The next pair made it six months and the bottoms split apart from the leather section. The following pair (that I paid for) also are doing the same thing. They are not holding together where the rubber meets the leather.

A few years ago, I started wearing leather softball cleets. Not alot of ankle support, but no more sliding on grades when using my walkbehind like I did with tennis shoes. I have to buy a new pair every year--just plain ole wear them out.

I had a pair of timberlands with gortex this year. For comfort I give them an A+, they were never very waterproof so I had to rotate wearing them every other day with my old boots. Even then they still only lasted a few months before the sole started falling off.

I now only wear Red wings. They will last years if you take care of them. For me I've found that rotating between boots every other day works best for me my feet sweat and the boots don't dry out fast enough. I also oil and clean them every few months.

Well, I sure envy you guys who can wear your shoes/boots into the ground...and for years on end.

During mowing season, I walk all of it. So for me, as soon as I start to get persistent unusual pains/discomfort in an ankle or knee or hip or lowback...I know it's time for new work foot wear. That's usually around the 3 month mark. A new pair fixes it every time.

I don't want the added weight of a steel toe...and have found Mid-top Hikers to offer much better lateral traction and support than a workboot.

How my feet feel at the end of the day as well as the next morning ~>> is of the utmost importance.

I like Vasque's...they're made by Redwing.

I walked alot to, on my busiest day last year I wore a pedometer and logged 25 miles. I also dealt with alot of hip pain. It really only happened from months straight of walking with a backpack sprayer killing off all the weeds. My company had a zero tolerance for them. My route was full of new properties that seemed like were never maintained. This year I will try and find a different company.

CAT workboots are the best for installs/getting dirty. I prefer the full boot but my Buddy wears a lower cut quarterboot/shoe from cat and swears by it (I think they are the "hydraulic" style).

But when it comes to day to day stuff (mowing, etc) I have to agree with NIXRAY Bates are great, nice and lightweight and feet feel great after a 10 hour day. I used to wear quarterboots by Magnum but it seems like they dont last long anymore so I switched to Bates.

Anytime I'm wearing pants I wear Georgia loggers. I like the ankle support (8 or 9 inches) and the aggressive tread. The heel is nice for digging into a slippery bank when its wet too. When Im wearing shorts I wear a lower boot, the current pair I have are Wolverine, more of a hiking boot design.

I have enjoyed Lawn Grips. Probably the most comfortable work shoe I've ever worn. They're not the cheapest thing out there, and the soles don't last as long as some others, but the comfort is worth it to me.
