Last year I hit a big pile of dog **** with my (clockwise) Homelight, I decided to head home a little early that day. Dont use those any more. Stihl for me.

Hit a rock, nothing major. I have hit dog $hit though, not cool at all. When I first got a trimmer 3 years ago, I was trimming at home and there was a 3/4 inch dowel that my dad had put along in the flower bed next to the lawn for something, or there was/used to be something on it. I hit that dowel and my trimmer head wound it's way straight up the thing and out of the top. Kinda cool actually, but a little freaky when your trimmer takes off in your hands.

I was using a 7 ft flail deck in knee deep stuff and found a 3/8th log chain. Tore off several teeth before I got it stopped.

Taking down a big section of nasty hill with the string trimmer (ransome broke a belt), had about 10" of string out (each side) on the Mary... It was the one day of the season my steeltoes were in getting a seam stitched...

Needless to say, my toes got a good hard hit! I was a hurting unit for an hour or two.

Caught a shrew (might have been a small mouse) edging a flower bed, that was kinda interesting, customers were wondering why my pant leg was covered in blood that day...

Made a matchbox racer go flying one day, landed on the porch, no worse for the wear! (thankfully no windows were hit)

Yeah, done the dog poop too YUCK!

I was trimming a water shed and a Muskrat ran right though the the drain tile and into my trimmer. Didn't kill him but it sure made some fur fly.

I've never really hit any animals but I have shattered windows with rocks and gone to the hospital for getting hit with a rock or piece of mulch. I hit slugs alot too. A bit messy but it's part of the job. If I ever find dog $hit in any of my customers yards after I have asked them nicely to clean it up, I add $5 to that service visit.

I still hit my head on low limbs while trimming sometimes on the SAME DERN TREES none the less. No excuses offered, just a slow learner I guess.

One day, a homeowner is gonna find me knocked out on the lawn in a puddle of 2 cycle oil and my own blood and pi$$.

While weed whipping, the worse thing I've ever been hit with was dead rotting opossum while clearing a ditch. It hit me in the form of paste. Pretty gross, huh? It makes driving through doggie-doo seem not so bad.

during prime catepillar season, they all merge on the the bark and if the trimmer hits them they explode. I mustve hit 10 of them, cause my legs were covered in catepillar guts. Ive had the dog doo thing happen as well, and its not a nice feeling.

I cut a 1" dia. snake in half last year. I don't know what type it was, but its dead now. It was curled up between a large gap in some landscaping timbers. Scared the **** out of me. I HATE snakes. I have seen 4 this year. Only killed one.

Chewed up frogs (usually big fat ones), snakes, almost hit a baby bunny. Thought about going after a sick looking raccon (called the Animal Control people instead), dog poop, some unknown soupy- glop that smelled like it was from another world.

Isn't this line of work great?

Dog ****, slugs, baby rabbits, squirels, frog, snake, very pi$$ed off yellow jacket nest, and can't forget the numerous cobwebs that engulf your entire head when you're looking at the ground trimming and they're suspended from tree branches - always a pleasure.

Frogs, snakes, dog poo, bugs. Once a Robin thought I was too close to the bush she had a nest in, and dive bombed me. I brought the trimmer up with throttle fire walled. Ms. Robin flies RIGHT thru the string. Tons of feathers, and ms. Robin was a TON smarter. She had dive bombed me the whole time I would mow for the last month. After this she left me alone. This happened several years ago. I am still laughing.

Picked up a small nail once and took it right through the cheek. Never realized it until I got into truck and glanced into rear-view.

A couple days ago i was trimming one of my properties and wraped a three foot garder snake around the head of my trimmer. The snake was shill alive so i ran to my truck to get some leather gloves. I got the snake untangled with out any bites. Other than a few cuts on the snake i think he and my wits will survive.

slugs, bugs, frogs, snakes, a mouse, and a customer's neighbor's PITA dog who was trying to attack the trimmer through the chainlink fence, he took a blow to nose and never tried that again. dumba$$ dog.

Slugs... gotta be the slugs. Nothing worse than the thick gooey chunks of a slug all over your face.

It musta been landscaper that taught me how to trim.
Couple of lawns that I have been doing 5+ years and I still hit my head on the same &*^%$ branches probably once a month.
One is on a busy corner where everybody gets to watch me do it.

Most recently a length of 1/2" ridgid conduit laying by a fence, made a real big groove on the coupling and a lot of noise. Last fall one of those metal framed election signs buried under a pile of leaves, took a while to un wind it from the blade. More than my share of low hat knocking off limbs!

Snakes, rabbits, dog poop, mice, and the window out of my old Ford. Also the window from a hair place that cost me $300 for a $75 job. But the worst was a nest of yellow jackets. I had 30 stings on each leg. Do I need to say I took off early that day? The final revenge was mine, though. I used a can of foaming Raid on their nest and killed them all. My legs swelled so bad I thought I was going to need to go to the emergency room.

Last year I hit a come along With 20feet of cable on it. It was laying In some taller grass along a fence with a 955 John Deere
Wraped it all around the center spindle. Took about a half hour to get out And a lot of cutting. But didn't hurt anything.

I use to help mow some mobile homes and they have this heavy heavy duty plastic that was always all over the place. If you come within 2 feet on the stuff it will suck up into your blades. It could take 5 to 25 minutes, depending how bad it got stuck around the blades, trying to get it off. Im so glad I dont do those anymore. Pain in the you know what!!
Rabbits are also a pretty bad problem around here.

After hitting doggy-doo and plenty of slugs (up here they are BIIIG, too), I got real sick and tired of the doggone mess. Slug stuff doesn't just wipe off all that good. So, I started wearing a pair of Military surplus GoreTex camo over pants. They're loose so they slip right over boots and such, tough as nails, and when I am done trimming they hose right off!!

That way I can were tan or cargo work-shorts and still trim, or not ruin a clean pair of jeans wihtin the first 30 minutes of the day by trimming.

Dog pooh .. oh yeah ... now there's a great memory .. getting shot in the face with poop! Luckily I didn't have my mouth draped open, often.

I was whipping at one house (around some mulched pine trees) and a little baby bunny jumped right into my string! Messed it up pretty bad .. so I had to use the mower to finish. Couldn't leave it there suffering.

You'd think instinct would make them run/hop/bounce/dig/slither AWAY from the loud, obnoxious sounds.

One time a was putting a edge around the property during the fall so there were leaves on the ground. Well, I kind of grazed right over a rattlesnake that was all coiled up. I'd say it was about 3 foot long. I didn't realize what I had done until about 5 seconds later. When I turned back he was gone. I freaked and I was looking everywhere for him. I burst out into such a cold sweat. My heart was pounding so bad. I have such a fear for snakes.

For years later, every time I came to that particular spot in this yard I thought about that snake and wondered if he would ever come back. I hate snakes.

I got ca- splattered if the face with ripe dog mess a few years ago. I got it in my teeth and my eyes. I was a million miles away from any sink or soap. I think I ran back to the truck and washed my mouth out with gasoline. Oh it was a Stihl strait shaft.

Hit a bird feeder that was hanging from a tree limb with my head, so hard that it jerked me so bad that it put my lower back out. 4 weeks off and a heap of pills for that one.
Fresh dog sh#t in the mouth and across the glasses. (always trim with the mouth shut!) Just the other day I was about 5' into trimming and hit a big fresh poo. I was really in a good mood before that happened too.
The stupid dogs through the chain link has happened a few times, not the same dogs though.
Fishing line. Meters of it! A real pain.
The first time I used a hand held post hole digger, it got wrapped up in some PVC pipe under ground. It threw me against a house and almost broke my arm.
While cutting down a small tree at ground level with a chain saw, I had to get into a strange position with my leg out front, needless to say, the saw went through the tree and zipped my leg. Nothing serious but it gave me more of an appreciation, um, legs!

Reading back over this, I might get a job in an office or something.

I have found there is something about the vibration of a Stihl 85 that drives a cotton mouth crazy.
Had 2 last year attack , the 85 cuts them up pretty good with that .105 line .lol
Polk salad is terrible. It splatters everywhere.
Just like the doggy poo. mmmmmmm good.
