I use Exmark mostly because the service at the John Deere dealer was so bad when I went to buy my equipment that I left and went straight to the Exmark dealer. I haven't regretted it either. They treat me well and will loan me equipment if mine needs to go in the shop.

I am brand loyal for one reason: Maintenance.
Both the parts and the know-how come easier that way.

I'm not perfect, there is some miss and match but for the most part.

Toro Wb's, T-Bar, 'nuff said.

Everything else is Stihl (except one Echo).

The engines are a bit tougher...
5 Kohlers, 3 Briggs, one Kawasaki, one Honda.

If it isnt Orange ..I dont use it :)

Smart, very smart.

I'm switching to john deere this year, my main reason is because the dealer is the best in the area. I've been using stihl since I started 8 years ago and I can get stihl at my deere dealer, so I can go to one dealer for 90% of the things I need.

Must give more info to get an accurate answer, How big are your properties? How many do you have? How many guys?

A good basic starter list would include:
Wide area mower: 48"-60" Z rider or walk behind
Small Area Mower: 32"-36" walk behind (if you use a 32" you should not need a push mower)
Two line trimmers, at least one good one and a backup
At least one backpack bower

The smaller mower is a TigerCub 48 in w/ 19hp Kawi ..The larger mower is a 52in Wildcat with a 26hp liquid cooled Kawi ...I also have 2 push mowers (Not orange though) and a 36in walkbehind Scag ..Along with another stihl 110 edger...I usually carry the equipment in pic on trailer 90% of time but switch out as needed ....The Tiger Cub is almost 5 years old and has over 2000 hours with very little problems in that time ..You wont regret buying a Scag ..They are tanks !

Residential 1/4 acre lawns, one 36in hydro walk behind. one trimmer with Edgit attachment, one blower, toolbox and gas containers. All in the back of my truck with a ramp attachment. Don't bring (or buy) what you don't need.

I disagree, there willl still be a need to have a 21" machine for extremely tight areas !!

This guy summed it up. Pretty much my dream setup no matter where or how much I am mowing when I get out of school and make my business full-time.

Very nice set up. I however, use John Deere and Stihl. Just a great combo for me, despite the people who disagree.
