Anyone try or see this new Stihl FS 70 RC-E trimmer?

I saw this trimmer too, and wondered about it. Looks pretty good. Lightweight at 10.6lbs, 1.2 hp, 27.2cc. I think it is stratified charge because the other new Stihl 27.2cc engines like on the BG 86 are. It looks to be the commercial grade version of the FS 56 RC-E, with a slight difference in HP, and engine clutch cover design. It is flex cable drive.

Anybody got one of these yet? The $279.99 price tag makes it very appealing, if it's a good trimmer.

Is it the same HomeScaper engine with only one compression ring?

Nope, it is a 2-ring professional series low-emission stratified 2-stroke engine, just like the BG 86 handheld blower, which has the same engine. Glad to see Stihl has a commercial-grade 2-stroke trimmer on the market now, with a low price tag. I think it will be available in California, as it is 2010 EPA-compliant. It has a full 2-year commercial warranty.

You sure both the BG86 and FS70 are two ring engines? I was told it become single ring and strato charged engine because of CARB crap.

I notice my new Stihl catalog took out the part bragging about two rings give better heat conduction and all.

I still have not notice FS70 in the dealer yet, damn that Kalif. crap.

I was told by the dealer we are not going to have the Shindaiwa EB802 ever!!!! Crap!!!! It's been two years already. Like we never get the EB630. Only available is the EB8520 that NOBODY buy according to the dealer!!!!

Here's the truth about it being a 2-ring commercial-grade engine with a forged rod:

The BG-86 puts out 1.1HP, and the FS 70 puts out 1.2, so there may be a difference.

I pickup one at my dealer and it felt good very light. If it runs as good as it feels it may be ok.
